    Question Massive weight gain?

The past year and a half I have gone from 245lbs - 114lbs. Unfortunately five month ago, for three months I only ate 1,000 calories even through exercise. Two months ago I bumped my calories up to 1,500 then 1,800. At 1,800 I continued to maintain for the most part, but gained about 3lbs. The past two weeks I have been on 2,200 calories and my weight rose from 119lbs - 125lbs. The odd thing is that even though the scale says I weigh more, the pants actually feel looser. I hope this information helps. I am looking to gain muscle and tighten/tone my body. I have another post here in this forum regarding that. I was just wondering if there would be a large weight gain for me if suddenly I decided to consume 3,000 calories a day despite all this?

To bulk properly follow these steps.

    BULKING
    -Calculate TDEE/MACRO needs HERE
    -Eat at a 10-20% surplus
-Compose your diet of foods you enjoy that help you meet calorie/macronutrient/micronutrient needs
-Maintain your calorie level for 3-4 weeks to allow proper adjustment and then monitor your weight fluctuations weekly/bi-weekly (aim for .5-1lb/week weight gain) and adjust your calorie intake accordingly.
-Pair this with a proper workout program (preferably selected from the WORKOUT PROGRAMS SECTION) and you’ll see results

If you're gaining weight why do you want to keep adding food? Are you trying to get fat?

No I'm trying to work on toning and shaping my muscles. I have excess skin that I need to deal with from when I was fat. At the moment, according to my doctor I'm beginning to look too skinny. My ribs are showing through my chest and sides. All of my life I've been obese up until now and now that I have increased my calories more I find my body hungry more often. I need to develop a plan that will keep me full and help tone my muscles...

Okay so here's the deal. I followed SparkPeople's recommendations to have between 1,500 - 1,800 calories because I would have liked to get down and stay at 115. So I exercised every day and bumped my calories up from 1,500 to 1,800. I did this for about two weeks and actually ended up gaining weight and not maintaining. The weight I ended up gaining was all muscle (from what I seemed to notice). Am I exercising more than I'm logging in on SparkPeople? According to them my weight-lifting with dumb bells for a half hour burns around 100 calories, and biking 3 miles in an hour burns around 500 calories... My arms looks more muscular, I am currently 125 lbs, the pants are looser, and my ribs are starting to show on my chest and sides.

I don't think so... Ever after 2,200 calories I'm still hungry.
