Forum: Workout Equipment

All about equipment and iron!

Sticky Thread Sticky: The Official Craigslist Thread (Round 3)

The last thread got up over 10,000 posts with too many people asking if they should pick up the bowflex down the street, so it's time to start a new one. Let's all keep our eyes open for the shake weights for .20/lb, strap on our Chucks, and speed away on our unicycles for those sweet pick ups....

Sticky Thread Sticky: The Official Power Rack Thread - August 2010 version

This is a collaborative effort from the equipment forum members. The 2008 edition has a lot of broken links and rather than keep that one going we decided to start a new one. First let’s have a few definitions to clear up some confusion. Squat Stands: These are probably the most useless...

Sticky Thread Sticky: Official Newbie Bowflex Search

So you are new and dumb enough to believe the Bowflex commercials, before you get flamed and negged into the red, use the damn search function to get the answer to "dude, should I be ignorant and think about getting a bowflex" OK, now if you post another thread, you get what is coming to...

We've been talking about starting a thread like this a number of times... so I'll start out with some of the more common questions and I'm sure it'll expand from there. Q: "I'm a newb and I want to know what I should get to start my home gym?" A: The majority of people will be best served by...

THIS IS NOT THE PLACE TO POST STUFF YOU HAVE FOR SALE!!! I'm seeing a lot of people and (some not noobs!) posting items they have for sale in this section. That is not what it is for and is against board rules. There is a craigslist sticky for posting great deals you see but if it isn't a...

Vintage Iron Thread

Hi All, I read a post a few weeks ago in which SnowOne and DonForeman suggested a vintage iron thread to discuss/identify old plates. I wasn't part of that discussion, but I see that no one has created the thread, and I have a couple of plates that I could use some help identifying, so I figured...

Edge fitness vs rogue monolift

Hey guys, I'm in the market for a monolift attachment. I have a Rogue R3 rack. I like the edge due to substantially more affordable price, but reviews seem to be hit or miss. Anyone with either monolift please chime in with your thoughts. Pros and cons. Thank you

What's your favorite adjustable bench, and why?

I'm curious what features everyone looks for with an adjustable bench, and why you prefer those features. Obviously minimal pad gap is a given, but do you prefer the hinge that creates very minimal gap, or can you live with around 2" of gap but no hinge? I've heard some say you can sit on that...

Somewhat off topic: What equipment got your spouse into lifting

I'm pretty confident my wife would really enjoy lifting and she is a heck of a lot stronger than she gives herself credit for. I'd like to slowly introduce her into lifting and my natural instinct is to get her squatting. I don't think I could convince her to jump right into it like that. I'm...

Is this squat rack worth it?

I'd like to hear everyone's opinion on this rack. I'm buying it second hand but the owner says that it was rarely used. It comes with the Olympic bar, hundreds of pounds of weights, lat attachment and adjustable bench. The price is $400 CDN for all of the above. Is it worth it?

Which dual cable functional trainers have the heaviest weight stack?

I need some help here, brahs. I've used a couple different ones over the years and the weight stacks are just too light--even though they are industrial pieces. Which ones have the heaviest weight stacks per your experiences? Appreciate any feedback.

While running on the Curve treadmill, The calorie count seems to climb incredibly fast. It seemed a little suspicious, so i did some research. The finding were interesting. Fold back rack spotter arms question

I am considering a titan fold back wall mount T-3 power rack. My idea is to get the spotter arms, mount them on the inside, and squat "inside" the rack. My thinking is that if I drop the bar the force would be back toward the wall. Dropping weight on the spotter arms on the outside would pull it...
