Sticky Thread Sticky: O35 Official Deadlift Competition Thread

Since we lost the last deadlift competition thread, it's time for a new one. Ideally we can get this stickied, and get some mod reps for the weight class winners. I'll be checking the contest regularly to update standings. Since the thread may last longer than a year, we can declare winners at...

Arrow Sticky Thread Sticky: The Official Ov35 Bench Press Thread!

May as well throw this one out there so we have all 3 major lifts represented. :) Open to ideas as to how things should run but here's how I see it..... - must be Flat BB Bench only (using an OLY bar). No Incline Bench, Decline Bench or DBs. - Raw lifts only. No shirted benching. (wrist...

My potential.

Hi guys, long time lurker here, decided I'd open up. I have been very active since childhood & have been lifting primarily for strength & keeping fit for a few years, maybe 10. I have always admired bodybuilders & envied them because I never thought I could EVER do what they do. I was 6'2 180lbs...

Anyone on 5/3/1 tried this?

This week, after the last set, (where I do the required reps plus as many extras as possible) I have been dropping the weights by about 30% and then doing 2 more sets to failure. No rest in between but just get the plates off and do the extras. Just wondering what the pros and cons of doing this...

Smile Older

Hi, I just read an old thread asking 'how quick?'.. I thought you all let him off very easily so here I venture. I have nothing in my favour.. I'm 62 years old and very overweight. Getting into a routine will be very difficult. BUT I've always wanted to look 'good'. 1. Do I have any chance?...

Squats: belted vs beltless

Just wondered what other experiences were in this regard? I have had back problems in the past, all the way through growing up, something that cost me some time out of sports in my teens and 20s. It was really just the typical stuff of a tall guy with poor flexibility: tight quads meaning hips...

Recommend routine for parents

Hey, Just wondering if any of you could recommend a half decent routine for my parent's. They can't squat or deadlift due to knee problems but aside from that they are ok. I was thinking of something of like a PPL fashion, since they can't really do full body cause no squats or deadlifts. ...

down 60# since November

I think Im officially addicted now. I started off with just trying to do cardio - and that usually involved T25 DVDs, beachbody etc and hitting a reflex bag. That got old. That got boring. Fast. The cardiologist and my primary were at odds with how I should approach this. The primary for...

Angry, Irritated, and easily agitated after leg day?

This seems to happen to me quite a bit after leg day (sometimes after back day but not as often), I will wake up and feel this way most of the day. I am thinking it has a lot to do with the stress I put my body through on leg day, I push the squats and leg press pretty hard those days. My...

Body Composition - Mental Platue?

I've been working hard, watching what I eat and changing everything up (reps, weights, sets, workouts). I took a really great pic about two weeks ago and I would like to aim for that appearance (a little more often than one great workout on a new pre-workout), but just a little less body fat. ...

Question for those who have had cortisone injections in knees

I had 4mil injection in each knee on Tuesday. Right knee feels perfectly normal, left knee feels like there is a 'bubble' pressure spot above the knee cap to the outer sweep of quad almost where tendon is? Injection was given to inner side of joint so not where needle insertion happened. It...

Question on the Emma-Leigh post

I am not a numbers guy and I don't like them, so this makes my head hurt. I figured if I am 50% fat that leaves me approx 144 LBM... so I am to multiply that by 21.6 (Katch-McKardle) to find my BMR, right? Then multiply that by one of these... right? 1.2 = Sedentary (Desk job, and Little Formal...
