Arrow Sticky Thread Sticky: The Official Ov35 Bench Press Thread!

May as well throw this one out there so we have all 3 major lifts represented. :) Open to ideas as to how things should run but here's how I see it..... - must be Flat BB Bench only (using an OLY bar). No Incline Bench, Decline Bench or DBs. - Raw lifts only. No shirted benching. (wrist...

Sticky Thread Sticky: O35 Official Deadlift Competition Thread

Since we lost the last deadlift competition thread, it's time for a new one. Ideally we can get this stickied, and get some mod reps for the weight class winners. I'll be checking the contest regularly to update standings. Since the thread may last longer than a year, we can declare winners at...

Pecs or fat

Pecs don't hang like moobs but if I reach up with the hand on the same side I can pinch up quite a bit. Is this a lot of fat or a normal occurrence? Already around 18-20% BF but this bulk WILL put mass on by winter's end lol.

Thumbs up NorwichGrad‎ - Thanks and big ups

Just wanted to give you your props and say thanks for helping me with your advice on squats. I very rarely implement what anyone tells me about training as I have been doing this for so long and know my body, but your suggestion about going down fast on squats was/is spot on. Although I have...

Failed Squat Video, all mental I am not happy!

As many in the past have found that the mental part of Lifting is just as important as the Physical part of lifting. Squating is my nemesis, its not like the deadlift where either you pull the weight off the ground or not, its that simple. The Squat is much more mental and form is so important....

Getting flack for not Getting Low

Having an issue that has cropped up a couple of times lately. Due to birth defects, resulting in tarsal coalitions in both feet, even after a subtalar fusion in one foot,I have less than 20% normal flexion, and even less dorsiflexion, in my feet. As a result, my squat depth is limited. On a...

Should my 64 year old dad take up deadlifting?

My dad has been having some back pain issues, was recently laid up in bed for a few days because of them, though today he felt good enough to cut the grass. I told him (via e-mail) how deadlifting helped me eliminate my back pain, and suggested he consider it, (if cleared to do so by a doctor.)...

ever hear of a rib injury doing leg presses?

About a week ago I was doing leg presses and on a set I could easily get 20 reps, on about the 16th rep. I must have come down too fast or too far (or both ) and seemingly "popped " my rib on my lower left side It did not break, but it surely hurts. I ice and compress, when needed. Anyone ever...

Do all your gyms have people doing the dumbest stuff ever as well?

I used to think its funny, but now its frustrating. Here are my two biggest irritations 1) we have one free weight incline press and one free weight shoulder stations in my gym. They are back to back. What happens is there is a bunch of m******ers in my gym that stand on the back of the...

Gym Etiquette-Racking Weights in front of mirrors

Curious on what is the correct way to do this. I've been working out for years in a military gym without mirrors...command to budget strap to buy mirrors I guess. Regardless, recently joined a commercial gym. The weight rack is in front of the mirrors. So if I want to grab a set or re-rack,...
