Sticky Thread Sticky: The Bench Form Thread

We see a lot of threads asking for bench form critiques on this forum. I feel like most of these threads are made because people don’t know how to critique their own form. They just don’t know what to look for. I’m hoping to narrow that gap with this thread. I’m not going to touch on everything,...

Squat cramps

Primary Leg Exercise (Squat Alternative)

I am unable to work out at a gym, and lift at home only. I have more than enough bars, plates, and dumbbells, but because I don't have a rack, standard barbell squats are pretty much off the table. For a long time, I simply substituted barbell squats with dumbbell squats (the kind where I simply...

i rep my flat bench 1 rep max on incline...

why is my incline bench press so much stronger than my flat? I always do incline after flat and i can do like 50 more pounds on incline than flat even with me chest fatigued from about 6 sets of flat. I touch me chest on both so there is no shorter range of motion

bench moving during hip thrusts

I've tried doing hip thrusts a couple times now, and I've had issues with the bench sliding behind me. I know that my back needs to be up further on the bench, but even then I feel it starting to slide. Do you have any ideas on what I may be doing wrong?

Thumbs up My Squat Needs Help

I recently started to video my squat to make sure that I'm hitting depth but have questions on other issues I've noticed. Looking at the 2 videos below it looks and feels like I'm falling forward; would raising my heels a bit help me? It also looks like the bar is tracking ahead of my feet as I...

Should I go Back to the Gym?

I've been lifting seriously for about 18 months. I have a 4 day split, today is chest day. I didn't get much sleep last night and I hardly ate today, I probably had about 400 calories before i went to the gym @ 3:00. I got suckered into a couple of pick up basketball games before my lift, and...

Low Bar Squat Wrist Injury

So I was doing low bar squat about a week ago and was being stupid with my form and had my thumbs under the bar. It put immense pressure on my left wrist on the ulnar side(pinky side). It has been a week and still has not gotten better. It hurts to rotate it inward, but there is no bruising or...

Bicep overtraining

I've kind of started to notice how my arms seem to permanently bend at the elbow more than usual. I wouldn't say I've over trained my biceps all my life, but I definitely haven't done triceps as much as I should. They are very undertrained. Was wondering if this might be the cause for my arms doing...

Barbell hack squat vs Hex bar hack squat

Can someone explain the difference in kineseology between performing hack squats with a barbell vs a hex/trap bar? I'm pretty sure it takes some emphasis off the quads with the hex bar, but the bar path is so damn awkward with a barbell that I wonder if it's worthwhile???

Natural Strengths Limits

As a natural lifter, it's always exciting to talk about and discuss what people think the natural ceiling for strength really is. Obviously in most cases you will be able to lift more at a heavier weight (Not all the time but most). For myself, I would want to continue to remain around 12-13%...
