Sticky Thread Sticky: Answers To Every Beginner Thread Ever

First off, you're starting to lift. You need a good program, a basic beginner program is easily the best choice and will yield the best results (Two highly acclaimed examples would be Mark Rippetoe's Starting Strength or ICF 5x5 by Jason Blaha.) Post videos of your main lifts (squat, bench,...

Smile 1 year progress/motivation/ask a former skinny guy a question

This is my transformation from nearing anorexia to having a decent build. The right picture was taken in October of 2014, I was a month away from turning 19 at the time, weighing a mere 132lb at 6'3. I lived a very unhealthy lifestyle up until that point and my life had no structure to it at all! I...

ROM when doing Close Grip Bench?

When I do close grip bench it's hard for me to go all the way up. So I bring it down to my chest and go about 1/2 - 3/4 the way up. Am I supposed to lock out? If so was the way I was benching still effective or was it pointless to do it my way? This is to work triceps btw.

Cardio after lifting?

So I'm not exactly sure if this is alright to do. Typically right after I'm done all my sets for my workout, I will go and do one mile at 4mph on the treadmill with a 2% incline. I've heard that it's bad to do cardio immediately after lifting as it takes away from your muscles. Is this true? Will...

Why the traditional Rippetoe/SS program sucks balls.
