How is this possible?
I read something about trained to conserve energy or strength?
This is NOT me. I can only do like 40 deadhang pull ups max.

i saw this vid a while ago, it's one of the most incredible things on youtube, imo. and ya i'd say he's probably a lifetime acrobat/gymnast and very dedicated to chins as conditioning.
and OP, 40 is a lot... i'd like to see that too! hahaStronger than gravity.

that is amazing...alot of respect for that fella!
i used to have a trainer who did alot of martial arts, he must of weighed only around 140 pounds at near 6 feet tall but his strengh to weight ratio was incredible. bodyweight exercises were no issue for him and because he was firstly very well conditioned cardiovascualy and secondly his muscle were very strong compared the size as they had been trained for endurance for years.
the difference between say jay cutler and this guy are akin to the difference betweeen an ultra marathon runner and a world class 100 metre sprinter. he does not train for explosive power or muscular endurance, more his muscle cells are replenished from his superior cardiovascular system, which is why he take 5-10 seconds between each rep.
takes a lifetime of dedication to get to his level
i wanna see the op do 40 pull ups, thats amazing!Natural Physique Ascossiation South East Britain lightweight champion

Ok, I did 40 deadhang pull ups about 6 months ago. This was because I was around 143-145lbs and my body fat was probably lower at that time because of all the cardio I did. I used to do pull ups/push ups/sit ups/jumping/running every other day for my high school's fitness team. Now I go to the gym and don't do nearly as many sets of push ups and pull ups as I used to do. Im over 10lbs more than that now, because I'm trying to gain weight, but also not lose definition at the same time. As of today, I could probably max out at around 30-35. Maybe more, because I don't do a max when I have full energy anymore. I'll usually do pull ups at the end of my back and bicep workout, which consists of around 7 exercises and I'm dead after that (deadlifts are on that day too). The bars at my gym are horrible, because it's just slick metal and super slippery. My 40 was on a taped bar at my school with chalk on my hands. If I can somehow get a video of me in the weight room at my high school from last year, I'll post it. Stay tuned. If I had to guess now, I'd say around 35.
Also, during the Atlantic City, NJ air show last year, I did 35 on the Marine station's bar and had the record for the day. It was also the most crowded day all year. Was anybody at that air show? There was no chalk provided and the bar shook like crazy.100x11 weighted pull up

i can do probably 23 full lockout pullups...and i have one of the higher PFT's in my company(288)...and there are alot of really in shape dudes in there but full deadhang pullups are pretty hard to do right and do alot at the same timeLast edited by oscarlf; 01-12-2010 at 03:13 PM.

this is like asking people to back up their e-stats and claimed lifts...
how many people you reckon who claim they squat or deadlift 500 pounds ACTUALLY do?
if you can't do it don't claim it lolNatural Physique Ascossiation South East Britain lightweight champion

Ok, I'll try and get a video up in 2 weeks.
I don't see why 40 is even that amazing. Last year, 8 or 9 kids on my high school fitness team could do at least 30 (they had us stop at 30 for max score). Did you guys see the original video I posted ... 77!!!!!! That is 37 more than I can do, almost double. You guys should be commenting about that guy. He's amazing.100x11 weighted pull up
