I managed to find some bulk beta-alanines, now here are my questions..
1. Is 4 grams spread out 4 times a day(so 800 mg per serving) sound good?
2. Do i need to take it with something for it to digest better?

1. If you are looking to get a total of 4 grams a day, which is a strong efficacious dose, I would just break it into 2 doses. There's no harm in breaking into 4 times a day as you mentioned, but considering the most recent studies are taking 1.6g doses, taken 2-4 times a day(depending on total daily Beta-alanine intake) and for the sake of convenience I would just take 2 grams twice a day.
2. There is a study that showed carbs with Beta-Alanine increased the performance benefits of Beta-Alanine to a similar extent that the same dose of Beta-Alanine without carbs did in HALF the time. One of the things, you can extrapolate from that study is that the carbs with beta-alanine, may have increased carnosine levels faster than beta-alanine without carbs as beta-alanine's performance benefits are largely known to occur through increasing intramuscular buffering capacity through elevating carnosine levels.Who we are and what we stand for as a company:http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/supplement-company-of-the-month-athletic-edge.html?searchterm=athletic

I've been out of school for a while now, but 800 mg x 4 = 3200 mg != 4000 mg
Anyway, if 4 grams is your current target number, then I would agree with the 2 gm x 2.
I've been previously dosing my ß-Alanine for some time @ 1.6 grams x 2 = 3.2 grams per day (2x) and have experienced good results. Four weeks ago, I decided to up the ß-Alanine dosing to 1.6 grams x 2 + 2 grams x 2 = 7.2 grams per day (4x) and have noticed a significant difference. That said, you can start out on the low end and adjust upward as necessary.
Either way, the dosing of the ß-Alanine appears to be most effectively dosed with multiple smaller intakes rather than one large intake.
Carbs seem to help to uptake in the same way as they do with creatine. There has been some contention on whether or not ß-Alanine should be taken with other amino acids / protein sources - namely taurine - since that substrate may compete for uptake.It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.
