Purpose of this thread is just gonna be my perspective of this procedure and for others to get an outlook as to what it's like.
I have an appointment next Wednesday (1/23) at 11:45am at Boston Medical Center.
I have been thinking about this for a few years now, ever since my 2nd child was born. Now seems as though it's as good of a time as any, I do not want any more children.
I will post my thoughts the day leading up to the procedure, and before I leave to go to the hospital...As well as what happened and how I feel afterwards...and the days/weeks after
feel free to post any questions about this. Also, lets try to keep this infomative for others who may be thinking about this in the future...
Anyone who has actually HAD the procedure, feel free to add your thoughts/experience...

No, I am not married anymore. I am not being pressured into this at all, I have wanted it for a while and finally found the right doctor I feel comfortable with.
This may sound dumb, but I am not all that responsible when it has come to sex in the past, and I dont want another child, period. I want to retire with dough and enjoy my life, n ot some broke ass slave working till im 70 because i have rugrats to support. My youngest will be 18 in 15.5 years, I will be 43 and done with kids from a child support standpoint.Sit down and cry or crush what's in front of you. You can't do both. - Deenur

are u guys dumb? it doesnt affect your test. all it does it prevent sperm from getting into your semen. you can still get a hard on, ejaculate, etc just without sperm. it's simply birth control. lol @ thinking it makes you somehow less of a man.
if you already have 2 kids and are sure you don't want any more, then go for it as long as you're comfortable with surgery and everything.b.s. exercise science, nsca-cscs

Go for it and good luck.
And ignore anyone here trying to change your mind, it's not their decision or their life.I'm not saying we should kill all the stupid and lazy people, just that we should eliminate warning labels and welfare, let the problem take care of itself.
I do not support military action in Syria.

thanks man, but adoption is the only option I will ever consider later on in life. I have a girlfriend who feels the same way. If this relationship doesnt work out for whatever reason, the next woman will have to want the same things in life as me or there will be no relationship. I am real open about this, this was talked about in great lengths with my girl and she agree's 100%
I am real firm on this aspect of my life...it wont change.Sit down and cry or crush what's in front of you. You can't do both. - Deenur

I plan on doing the same, ever since my 2nd was born.
I'm coming up on 30, I have my family. If something were to happen there is no "replacing" my loved ones with new ones.

k, i respect that.
One question tho, do u have brothers/close mates/extended family ur real close to? if u do, u might want to consider their needs.... I know it sounds far fetched but if a family member suddenly needed some sperm for whatever reason you could be there for them.
I still think freezing some wouldn't hurt. They aren't neccessarily for you.The thorn defends the rose and harms only those who would steal the blossom.

WTF? He's having his tubes cut not his cock cut off.....
Good on ya! Stick firm, don't let anyone try to bully you - from all the 'what happens if you meet the 'right' girl?' (the correct answer is 'the right girl doesn't want kids' ) to the 'No girl will ever want you if you can't give her kids' bull****, if it's what you truly want, go for it, it'll be worth it in the end to be free of the anxiety of possibly getting someone pregnantMisc Perv #65

not a dumb question at all. The anwser is yes. There is still semen, just no sperm in the semenal fluid.
There were a lot of wierd questions that went through my mind and girls asked me.
Does the constistancy change?
Does it look different after you nut?
Does it taste different with no sperm?
Will there be as much volume wise?
etc...Sit down and cry or crush what's in front of you. You can't do both. - Deenur

^^^^^^Ditto that^^^^^^ I got a V several years ago after the birth of our second kid.......was an excellent thing Pain was minimal, no complications, don't have to worry about birth control anymore.......and the VERY BEST part - insurance paid 50% of the bill, and the other 50% was waived "as a professional courtesy" (which was odd as niether my wife nor I worked for that doctor or med group.....but I wasn't going to complain ) So it was 100% gratis

Somewhat Related Funny story
I knew a guy that was in a hunting accident and somehow his insides got screwed up to the point of the surgens having to redirect the path of his seminal output into his stomach. So basically he jizzed into his own stomach when he blew.
The discussion came up when I asked him if he wore protection during sex and he said he did not need to (for pregnancy at least). I said oh you got a vas? He said no and explained the story.
Still freaks me out to think he was indirectly injesting his own load...
David, let it roll...It's just that D ****, D's short for do what I wanna do
And that's what I'm gonna do, right here in front of you
And I'll be runnin you and your man straight up out
And y'all nig-gas aint runnin a fuc-kin thing but your mouth

I had mine done 2 years ago when I was 27 after my wife and I had our second child. You have nothing to worry about with pain--they gave me a ******, hydrocodone, and used a local anasthetic. For a week afterwards though my balls swole to the size of grapefruit, but I was actually running 2 days after getting cut, having sex 5 days after, and completely normal within a week. The biggest mistake people make is having unprotected sex right after the surgery that results in pregnancy. It's gonna take 4-6 weeks before you're actually sterile, and you have to take a "sample" to the doctor to get it checked.
As far as all other questions regarding the after effects...
There's no difference in consistency, look, volume, texture, and my wife has told me--taste. You stated that you were careless in the past with sex-- this will probably make you a lot more reckless because you know that you can't procreate. Any more questions--feel free to ask.
