    when to stretch

    when is the best time to stretch for a workout, before or after, or both?

    height - 5'9

    I normally do a quick cardio type warmup, and then stretch before warmup sets, then do the work sets. I then stretch in between most sets, but don't spend too long on this. Then I stretch after the workout is finished.
    I also stretch on rest days.

    same here.
    i also do some light dynamic stretch before i start my workout, i.e. truck twist, shoulder rotations etc.

    stretching before really isn't going to do much in terms of safety; just worry about proper warming up before hitting the hard sets.

    this is what has worked best for me..Always starting at a very light weight to get a good stretch then work myself up to my hard work numbers. Like i mean 10 lbs differnce so your working urself up hard enough
