I use the squats more as a power exercise were i focus on pushing the weight more than squeezing the muscles.
I use the leg press to focus more on squeezing the muscle rather than pushing the weight. The leg press is good as it isn't as taxing as squats therefore this allows me the ability to concentrate more on the quads rather than using all the muscles on my body on the squats.

You know if I wanted to be an ass I'd say the most obvious thing. A good majority that go into powerlifting do so because they couldn't handle the hard work of bodybuilding which includes not only lifting but cardio and diet.
Ok, so I chose to be an ass. Hey, guys he threw the first blow. Better believe I am going to stick up for a defend what I love.
LMAO at bodybuilder being lazy. Kid I've been at this for over 12 years now and as a bodybuilder I bet dollars to donuts that your lifts would look like my warm ups.
PullUp17,
That's actually a good way to go about things if setting up a program with emphasis on BOTH strength and hypertrophy. Using a movement like squats in the 4-6 range and leg presses in the 8-12. Damn fine way to workout.

Well if so my aplogies. However 1. I don't actively seek out what he posts so I have no idea what his usual m.o. is and 2. With so many newbs and powerlifters vs bb's it's easy to assume the worst.
I still say this or this would be good to add. But again my apologies if I misinterpreted his m.o.

I do both and prefer the squats over leg press. Most people in general will stay away from squats because they are "too hard". Alot of people are not willing to put forth the effort to learn how to do squats, and suffer through them for the leg building benefits.

So now after two rambling years comes a final and greatest adventure: the climactic battle to kill the false being within, victoriously concludes a spiritual revolution. Funny you should say that. In the last 2 months, I've witnessed people injuring themselves on the legpress (2 guys complained of lowerback injuries after legpressing) and the smith machine (hook rotated and hit a peg on the way up and stopped the guy cold, big pain)
I've NEVER seen anybody injuring themselves doing squats or any other free weight exercise.
