Got a haircut today and outside of the "hey" at the beggining the barber did not say a single thing while my hair was getting cut

The guy beside me getting his hair cut was talking non stop with the barber laughing non stop as i sit there in silence

After getting the cut i didnt tip him and im never going back

Obviously small talk is not needed but generally a "hows your day going" "is everything okay" makes a big difference

That's the thing about working retail, or customer service in general. You still have to go to work, be around and talk to a bunch of strangers, even in those days you just don't feel like it.

You don't get the luxury of sitting at your desk by yourself all day.

My newish haircutter is nice and chatty. I do worry though that sometimes I unintentionally hit a nerve with her over something I'm not familiar with going on in her life. She has the sharp object in her hand I've joked to myself. I need to keep the talk sweet and upbeat.
