Why sell even at 1K?

We are at the very beginning of the AI Revolution and NVIDIA has close to a monopoly on the chips capable of it.

Competition will come, but at the moment, the closest competition is not even close to NVIDIA's technology.

Nah I don’t do day trading or options or anything like that, all of this is stuff I had originally bought in 2020-2021 and held since then with just a little bit of selling and buying back in (sold one company, bought another and then held)

So there's the literal component of the fact that the share price gets severed and share volume gets multiplied. Half is unrealistic btw, the previous split in 2021 at $600 price point was a 4:1. Might be the same or higher next time around.

But what a stock split enables is for more people to be able to buy their shares. Buying $300 of NVDA right now gets you a little over 0.3 shares. If it splits by 6 for example you'd have 2 shares. AKA it makes it more accessible to investors, the psychology of the investor is favorable when they can buy "5 nvidia shares" instead of "0.5", even if it's the same thing. Some brokers don't support fractional shares btw. But beyond that... as CEO of NVIDIA said, he's a fan of them because it means more share volume/liquidity to benefit their employees via stock reward plans.

I think what friesbruh is asking is, why would you sell when a stock split allows more investors to buy and therefore drive up the value? It also introduces more volatility of course, which is more risk but overall AI looks to be on some solid ground in my opinion.

Depends on you as a trader, if you're long term then why ever sell till you retire in the first place? lol.

If you're all about the "buy the rumor sell the news", then this is a clear example. Buy a position favorable for a hype train centered around the rumor of a stock split (or successful ER for that matter). Sell after the news props the stock up, before a drop. If you let FOMO guide you then you'll potentially be a bag holder.

The reason I would sell is because I'm sick of living in an apartment and seeing 6 figures in my investment accounts. About time I buy a house, always had the goal of having one before age 30. Then I'd take a break from the stock market (not including retirement accounts), and then come back in hopefully after a major dip from a market crash or bad news.
