…You can’t even do simple chit like make a doctor’s appointment
Their offices are only open the exact hours you work.
So if you need to make an appointment, after factoring in commute time, waiting and actually being seen (let alone driving to the pharmacy if there’s a prescription), you are forced to miss a half a day of work.
For most wagies like me, that means using at minimum 4 hours of your PTO.
There goes half a sick day or vacation day that could have been used towards needed rest or a vacation which replenishes the spirit.
Most people have at least one annual checkup, a dental cleaning and eye exam. That’s 12 hours of lost time, which sounds insignificant, however when you’re only given 2 weeks of PTO a year, it’s a massive hit srs.
Another example of the rat race keeping us chained and suffocating.

Possibly the worst part about being a 9-5 wage slave…

Man I’m so excited srs. Can’t wait to be free again. Thinking about buying a bunch of Thai food from the restaurant up the street Friday night that will feed me for 2 days. Will be hitting the gym and going for a long walk weather permitting.
So fkin true. My mental and physical health has plummeted since going back into the office. My blood pressure is 10-15 points higher than it was when I was WFH. My test has likely dropped like a rock considering my symptoms. Fatigue, mental fog, low libido. I still workout, albeit less often.
Most of us cagies are sedentary all day long and eat like absolute chit, which leads to these chronic health issues.
Sheet metal Union doesn’t even get PTO (100% ded fkin srs - my friend hasn’t had a paid vacation in 4 years). They just renegotiated their contract to finally give apprentices something like 1 hour for every 40 hours worked, which will start this summer.
So really no job is ideal when it comes to time off, although their schedule is a little better since those tradies usually get out around 2:30p every day.

You're right, your employer should pay you to go to the doctor. It's not like they give you a bank of paid days off to take care of whatever it is you need to take care of in your personal life.
you have a victim mentality, it's sadI'm just a white guy from the future, I'm completely out of touch
This machine is obsolete

Yup. Depends on the local but for this one that’s how they operate. You take off whoever you want, just unpaid.
Apparently it’s more common than you’d think for unions to not give any PTO or to give the option to have money withheld from their check to go towards a vacation fund. Really fkin chitty.
