Dieting blows. But you have to compromise
I've been seeing the past in one eye and the present in the other. So, I thought I could only see patches of reality, never the whole picture. I felt like I was watching a dream I could never wake up from. Before I knew it, the dream was over.

The mindset thar dieting "blows" and you have to put up with bland and tasteless food, is a very poor one and a virtual guarantee that you'll fail to stick to your diet. Consequently, you'll yo-yo in and out of good shape and poor shape, and constantly trade off between good physique/bad food and the converse.
Don't see fitness and dieting as having to tolerate bad and boring food. Don't even use the word "diet": Rather, see it as a lifestyle which enables you to get creative with meal creation and planning. For example, here are two fitness meals with high protein and fit to a 40/40/20 macro breakdown, from Bodhy's Kitchen:
Mongolian Beef with Rice:
Prawn Linguine with Creamy Garlic Sauce:
Both meals hit around 550-600 cals, and are fuggin' delicious.Back off, Warchild.
Seriously.
