I keep coming back to Insurgency Sandstorm. Perfect blend of tactical and arcade.

The finals easily

-fully destructable environments like bf: bad company
- movement like apex legends
- Gunplay like call of duty

It's taken the best parts of the best shooters and combined then into one free to play game.

Even when you lose, it's still fun. My win ratio is absolutely abysmal yet I don't care at all because the fun factor is just through the roof.


It also helps that this game is a huge breath of fresh air if you are coming from stale games like apex and call of duty.

Up to a bit ago it was still Destiny. Game keeps giving, still a very large player base, good shooting mechanics, great graphics, etc.

They came out with an update a bit ago and made one of the main storyline characters gay. Uninstalled it right then and there. It's too bad, was a great game, but I will not support woke bs no matter how good the content

OP it depends on what kind of game you're into personally. I don't care as much for shooters because a 50/50 mix of strategy and execution is more fun to me. DOTA 2 fits that bill for me personally.

Call of Duty has been essentially the same game for 20 years and it still has the best gameplay. Not exactly competitive per se, but if you use the term loosely it fits. They have a ranked mode coming soon.

Counterstrike if you want something more tactical.

Everything else feels garbage to me, including the finals. But I don’t like long ttk. Just annoying to me.

Rainbow Six Siege is still unmatched if what you're looking for is a tactical shooter. I know there are a lot of other more tactical shooters out there, but R6 Siege is still the one that's most mainstream and won't take you forever to queue for a match. Still regularly in the top #5 most played Xbox game.

So he wouldn't like Gears of War or Halo since everyone's a bulletsponge. And he definitely wouldn't like mech games like Armored Core.

I would say btw, in response to Criminal_Manne, that a lot of the "feeling" of the gameplay in CoD MW 1 + 2 (2019, 2022), versus the new CoD MW 3 (2023) is very different. I felt like the TTK in the newer CoD MW3 has dropped to nearly nothing, and I kinda hate that. There's gotta be some balance. Everyone runs around like headless chickens. It's the first CoD that has ever made me feel old tbh.

I play everything but generally prefer longer TTK.

I've grown less fond of games like Pubg and cod where people can hide and one shot you from distance. I prefer apex where you have to close the gap and fight close range.

COD has dumbed itself down so much, every new iteration of cod makes it easier and closes the skill gap between good and bad players. There's more and more changes meant to help the newbies stay in the game instead of rage quitting and playing something else.

I actually love armored core 6. Favorite game of 2023.

Only difference between MWII and MWIII is they brought back slide cancelling and made the ttk slightly higher. 150 hp vs 100hp but it’s still nearly instant. I hate Warzone. I shouldn’t have to mag dump 30 rounds to get a kill. It’s higher skill gap perhaps, but like I said it’s just annoying to me. I like running around and shooting people.

Just tried the finals again and it’s so annoying to me. Run around for 30 seconds to see someone first, I don’t miss a shot but I’m still dead somehow? Idk I don’t get it. Can I not put a cot damn red dot on my ak. Don’t feel like learning a new game when I know what I like (COD, basically)

COD has tons of issues and isn’t good, but other fps just are trash to me.
