Illinois makes vote by mail permanent and expands voting access in other ways

Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker signed a law on Thursday expanding curbside voting and establishing permanent vote by mail.

Senate Bill 825 lays out procedures for election authorities to establish curbside voting during early voting or on Election Day. The measure also establishes permanent voting lists [fir voting by mail] that voters can choose to opt-in or opt-out of at any time.

The bill also directs authorities to establish central polling places where “all voters in its jurisdiction are allowed to vote on election day … regardless of the precinct in which they are registered,” according to its text.

When reached for comment, an Illinois GOP spokesman wrote back in all caps "STOP THE STEAL!"

Good for you guys, Illinois. I also like the central polling places that registered voters can use regardless of their precinct. Voting should be simple for everyone like that.

Yes, the registration process is exactly the same, and the ballots are counted in the same facilities. IL voting machines produce paper ballots as well when you vote in person. I don't get what you're inferring about our elections here.

This can be fixed by the state providing IDs to everyone free of charge via mail or by appointment (since many minorities do not have free time off work to come in and get the ID).

We should also have a national voting holiday at the very least to let everyone vote.
