    PlateMate - Any good reviews?

I have a home gym with cast iron hex dumbbells ranging from 5lbs to 85lbs. There's a lot of gaps in between and I'm looking for a way to solve that. (40lbs jumps to 50lbs, 60lbs jumps to 70lbs, 70lbs jumps to 85lbs).

Has anyone purchased these and liked them? Anything negative about them that I should know? Want to make sure before I pull the trigger buying two pairs.

A couple buddies have them and no complaints aside from the price. You could also make your own with a couple spare plates, neodymium magnets and some type of adhesive (epoxy?).

I bought some platemates to use with my powerblocks and they are pretty nice overall although a little pricey... They always feel securely attached when I use them.

Plate mates are great and though they are a little pricey you will save a ton by not having to buy the weights to fill the gap. Key issue though is you have to be careful using them on coated dumbbells/plates encased in rubber and whatnot. The magnet may not hold well on thickly coated dumbbells and plates.

Ditto. Been using the hex version for several years. No complaints other than the price.

Like previously stated, it makes sense to spend the $90 on two pairs and use them on multiple dumbbells rather than buying new dumbbells to get the weight i desire. Heck, pair of cast iron 60lbs would run me $120 new. I check ******** marketplace often along with flea markets for good deals as well, but haven't had any look with the dumbbells I want. Think I'll go ahead and purchase them.

It sounds strange, but some adjustable wrist weights could be cheaper and not stick off the sides of the dumbbells like Platemates. For most exercises it's effectively the same to move those couple pounds to your wrists.

This is what I did, glued 3 neodymium magnets onto the back face of some old change plates, 1 pair of 0.5kg and a second pair of 1kg.

Maybe not so neat as Platemates, but certainly cheaper.

Honestly only heard good stuff and never bad. I haven't used them but seen them a few times in person. Only concern I've heard is price and using in coated metals (rubber). If I had the need and money for them, I'd feel comfortable buying.

I have the hex style both sizes 1 1/4 and 7/8 pound sizes.
I have hex DB's and they work fine on most exercises.
If your something where the DB's sit on your legs at the start the may come off.
You can put them on the sides or inside if thats the case.
Basically you double your DB weights with these which is nice if your stuck moving up to the next weight.
This might justify the price if your really into DB work.

I have had pair of plate mates for pro style dumbbells for a couple of years and have had no issues with them. Definitely recommend them.

I was actually concerned about sitting the dumbbells on the legs and them not staying on. Putting them on the side is a good idea, thank you!
