    The Hood, My Hood......

So here's a phucked-up story, can't make this up although it's something close to what may happen in a movie.

So, when I was in 9th grade, my best friend was age 19 we'll call him "T"(he was a senior at my high school), he was a Grateful Dead head (I once wore a Megadeath shirt to his party when I was 12-13, and some guy on acid wanted to fight me).

So several of his friends didn't like me because I was a young kid, but "T" liked me, so I was around alot when I was a freshman, he'd get me rides and chit and they were always drinking.

We were hiking in the woods one day like 5 miles (smoking pot) and went off the path up a mountain and found a log cabin (it was for boy scouts maybe). "T" and his friends ended up using this cabin after late night parties (I would spend the night at T's house every so often and stay out all night with these dudes, some of them were early 20's).

They got all smashed one night at the cabin, pills, boooze, etc. well T decided to run-off and he was walking miles and miles away. Another guy left (a huge pill-head) hours later and ran T over at 55-60 miles an hour. T still lives, I visited him in hospital and continued to hang out with him until I was a Junior, he then started to travel the world. He still lives though, he has a business I saw on Google.

The guy who ran him over died about a decade later of a booze and pill overdose.

T was and most likely still is a massive alcoholic, it got bad when he got older, but as a kid it was fun partying, he would have a chick in a Firebird come pick us up on a Friday and hit the local party (that would get busted five times) get chased by the cops, get into more than one fight, get laid, etc, etc. Everytime I went out with him, we'd almost get busted, run from something eithier police or some dude with a gun (I had rifles pulled on me several times before I was ever a Junior). It was like a movie.

My Grandfather smoked his whole life. I was about 10 years old when my mother said to him, 'If you ever want to see your grandchildren graduate, you have to stop immediately.'. Tears welled up in his eyes when he realized what exactly was at stake. He gave it up immediately. Three years later he died of lung cancer. It was really sad and destroyed me. My mother said to me- 'Don't ever smoke. Please don't put your family through what your Grandfather put us through." I agreed. At 28, I have never touched a cigarette. I must say, I feel a very slight sense of regret for never having done it, because your post gave me cancer anyway.

Why is it that these "good times" stories never sound like fun?
