Stop wasting your money on BCAAs, they're useless if you're hitting your protein requirements for the day.
There's no reason why you should eat carbs whilst working out, and there's no added benefit to consuming carbs post workout either (the whole insulin spike post workout and anabolic window is a huge marketing scandal).
Just make sure to hit your macros/micros for the day, spread your meals (if you can) across the day, and that's about it.“One of the greatest experiences in life is achieving personal goals that others said would be, ‘impossible to attain.’ Be proud of your success and share your story with others.” -Robert Cheeke

They can be beneficial in some instances such as long, long gym sessions that require endurance. But they are certainly not necessary just as the BCAAs that you're taking alongside. Putting fat on will largely depend on the excess amount of calories that you're consuming which needs to be tracked to accurately gauge fat gain.

Intra carbs are great, if that fits your training style.
If you have gained fat...that is simply just too many overall calories. Make a dietary adjustment and see where your weight goes.Type 1 Diabetic - Since age 15

Are you fasting for >24 hours on a low carb diet and then training >1.5 to 2 hours? Then sure, they could be beneficial. Otherwise, it's just carbs and nutrient timing isn't relevant to the vast majority of people. If you want to use them and they fit your macros, cool. Is it making a marked difference? Probably not unless you're falling into sentence 1.

You don't have to be an "elite athlete" to take advantage of timing some of your macro intake around training.
OP I for one think carbs are definitely beneficial during training and have helped me out during my sessions. I definitely notice the difference with and without them.My training log: https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=178464441

Agreed. That's exactly what I was thinking. The broscience in this thread is extremely strong.
I follow a relatively low carb diet (year round) and even I use carbs (SizeOn or Glycofuse) during my workouts and usually have my largest carb based meal after my gym session. It makes sense and it's been proven over time. Carbs intra-workout are a necessity for me. I can only tell a difference when I have it and when I don't.

carbs are the best for performance, period, but taking them intra is simply not necessary for the vast majority of people. Even with a fast acting carb source, your body still needs to process it before it can use glycogen for energy, and you're probably gonna be relying more on carb intake from the previous day, or from earlier in the day if you train much later in the evening. There may be some validity to your body being better able to process carbs during the intra workout window, but that's the kind of thing a highly advanced lifter might think about to give them any kind of edge they can find. For most, you just don't need to overthink it.
