we definitely should develop some technology so that cops can know if a person has a gun or not, this would put a dent in these crazy killings of cellphone holders. Maybe develop something non-lethal but stronger than a tazer as well.

There doesn't seem to be a market for making policing safer aside from go-pro's on these dudes chest. Possibly to encourage innovation govt offer research grants/awards.

It's possible, I mean, we have pod cameras, shot spotters, soon we'll have facial recognition technology.

Imagine someone fires a gun, shot spotter goes off, and the camera zooms in on the offender, facial recognition identifies him/her, and we know who to look for.

Of course the judge will still give them probation in cities like Chicago, Oakland, Baltimore, Detroit, etc.

But in this case, we have to look at the other side too. That kid was shot 20 times. If you watch the video, they start shooting shortly after commanding him to freeze. The argument from the protester's side is that they did not allow enough time for Stephon to comply before opening fire. And once they did - they shot him 20 times. 20!

That IS excessive.

A simple one. You realize that while you're recording the cops, their in car camera is recording you, as well as their body cameras. If you want to record them, by all means, do it.

Cliffs:

- dude's brother interrupted city council meeting, causing them to adjourn early because the protesters were banging on the windows and yelling/threatening
- protesters blocked people from going into a basketball game at the arena shouting "either you join our protest, or you don't go in"
- car of lady smashed as she confronted protesters blocking the road

It's absolutely crazy.

My problem with all this: the people aren't even letting the police complete their investigation before acting like monkeys in the streets.

Police officers are guilty until proven innocent. Since in about 99.9% of cases the cop actually is innocent, the protestors are trying to stop that result from happening.

Even a lot of pro-police people believe this one was murder.

It's almost as if police forces are made up of individuals who each have their own abilities, biases, training, etc.

There have been a few cases of clear cut murder/attempted murder recently but that doesn't mean the one in Sacramento fits that bill.

Tell us - do you think the protests are justified?

IMO, every person who is misbehaving (vandalism, obstruction, etc.) in the streets under the guise of "protesting injustice" should be arrested.

They originally blocked fans from entering the Kings arena which is chitty, especially since this case is clearly in favor of the police. Alot of these protests are typical catharsis with no bearing on facts or context. If BLM bothered to pick worthy cases they'd have for more impact and actually be doing some good. The guy was committing damage and then moved towards police with an object in hand in a near pitch black area. In near darkness, a black phone (especially in a thick case) imo could be confused with the top of a gun slide, especially if light is reflecting off the exposed buttons much like an ejection port. If he had his hands up in surrender that would be one thing, but the video shows his hand by his side.

As for the police firing too much, that's basically 10 shots per officer which is totally reasonable in what you perceive as a life/death situation - due to the mentioned stress effects on accuracy and behavior. You simply can't aim for extremities in that scenario for the sake of disabling someone, it's not feasible. Do that and you could be dead. There's been instances of police marksmen doing this - with rifles from yards away against a tee'd up suspect, but not on the ground when you're being fired upon.

Love my camera, except now my felony arrests might never go to trial again, so I can't collect that overtime.
