I haven't been paying supplements much attention for the last couple of years, but I'm looking to pickup a few basic things so I thought I'd take some suggestions.
The last few protein powders I really liked were the original Myofusion and Iforce's Protean. Is there anything new out there that has a similar style of great taste and good macros? I know Myofusion went to crap a few years back when it switched to rice protein and I never liked ON's taste.
For pre workouts, I used Superpump 250 for years and after they stopped making it I never found anything that worked quite like it. Anything out on the market like this again. If not, I wouldn't mind something with smooth, consistent energy.
I'd prefer minimal prop blends if possible. I like to know what I'm taking.

Been away from supps; looking for Protein/Pre-workout

Preworkout:
-ANS Ritual (no prop blend, effective doses of proven ingredients, definitely smooth and consistent energy)
-PES Prolific (just tried this recently and was impressed)
-SAN Fierce Domination
^my current favourites
Protein:
-ANS N-Pro (blend of several different proteins, whey, egg, casein)
-PES Select
^my two favorites right now. If you need an isolate due to lactose issues check out N-ISO or ISO-100
Gaspari just came out with a new protein "Precision Protein" although I've yet to try it. Never had Protean either but have heard good things.Army Vet (11A)

I've never had protean or myofusion so I can't recommend based on similar taste but:
Animal Whey
Blue Star
Cellucor Whey
Core Whey
Dymatize
PES
For open labeled pre-workouts:
Animal Fury
Carbon Prep (add your own stims)
Ergo Pre
NEOGENIX Velocity Ultra (PM me for samples)
PES Prolific
ANS Ritual, Conqu3r Unleashed, C4 Ultimate and Hypermax XT are all primarily open labels except for the stim blends (if I'm not mistaken)VELOCITY NUTRITION

A really solid list right here to choose from. Thank you for the mention of Blue Star Whey Smooth. We are currently going to discontinue this product as we have something else in the works currently. If you are a fan of the cookies and cream flavor, I would highly suggest you look into a tub of our Milk and Cookies flavor. It is the only flavor still in stock in the bb.com store and its current price stacked with the 10% coupon code makes for a killer deal.

This is also a phenomenal deal.Workout Journal: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=167450201

iForce Protean and Gaspari Myofusion are both still out. Protean has some really good flavors such as blueberry muffin and BSMOC. Myofusion has some really good flavors including maple bacon pancake and banana.
Other protein powders I recommend are
PES Select
Animal Whey
As far as preworkouts go I recommend
PES Prolific
Animal Fury

there are some really outstanding suggestions in here for both Proteins and Pre's. they are all good but everyone has their own personal preferences and favorites so ultimately, the final decision has to be yours. your best bet would probably be to get in touch with some of the reps and see if a couple samples could be snagged. most reps are very generous and if they have samples available would be happy to share a few.

Thanks for all the suggestions, everyone.
I ended up going with Iforce Protean Chocolate Pretzel and NEOGENIX Velocity Ultra. Last time I ordered from here, they weren't carrying Protean, so I'm glad that's changed.
The shipment came in today, and damn is that chocolate pretzel good. Tastes better than syntha-6, without all the carbs/fat.

If you liked the taste of the old Myofusion, I think you will like the NitroTech Ripped. The Whey Gold is awesome for quality and taste too. And I loved the Superpump 250 if you are going back to 2008... But take a look at Vapor X5 Nexgen I have been loving that.

Next time you're buying a pre-workout - check out ErgoPRE
* Non-proprietary open label concept - so you know what you're getting
* Intense focus and energy, without leaving you jittery or stimmed out
* Flavors like you can only imagine. You will actually enjoy your pre-workout instead of choking it down
* Value you can't beat. Each serving is a full serving, not a half serving.
