Do everything as fast as possible, you don't have much time left.
Kidding. While some people certainly do get into fast / slow / tempo work, for your purposes you likely need to just lift. Under control, good form, don't purposely try to go any particular speed. Low reps vs high reps will depend more upon your goals. What are your goals?

After serious consideration I think it would be best to do the faster reps real slow and the high reps much lower. You can also throw in some low reps done high and some slow reps done at breakneck speed.
Kind of confuses the body so you get greater adaptation to growing older. After all confusion is one of the main goals as we get older. I'm 59 and I'm making great gains in confusing myself. :-)Anybody can workout for an hour but controlling what you eat the next 23 hours is the real task.
