Hi, I recently started working out at home with a cheap weight bench and 30KG vinyl weight set. The set came with a 4ft long barbell which fits perfectly in my bedroom. But, I'm ready to move up weight at the moment and all of the 50KG barbell sets I see in stores are 5ft long... Why don't they sell 4ft long barbell sets for 50KG weights?
There is no way of fitting a 5ft barbell in my room, so I'm going to have to figure something out...

Even the 5ft bars are too short for a proper rack or bench.

Doubt you'll be able to find a barbell that size but I could be wrong. If you can't join a gym try clearing more space, I find it hard to believe your room can only fit 4ft. If you can't clear more space get some adjustable dumbbells and work with those instead.

Because to bench press alone in a safe manner, you have to use a rack with horizontal safety bars attached that will catch a failed press attempt before the bar crashes into your face or neck. Almost every rack worth purchasing (half, full, or otherwise) will have a space between uprights of at least 40 inches, which is wider than the gripping area of a 4 foot barbell. All 7 foot barbells and some 6 foot barbells will have wide enough gripping areas to be compatible with racks.
The only other safe way to press alone is to use dumbbells.

Everyone has to start somewhere... Have you ever seen someone bench press at a gym or online. If you want a bar that can hold a decent amount of weight and not bend then you need a real Olympic barbell. Whether the bar is 4' or 7' does not affect the position of your hands. Plus you should be benching in a power rack so you don't die. Your 4' barbell is not going to work in a power rack.
The video this pic is from is well circulated, near death while benching

You need a good rack, a bench, and a 300-lb Olympic weight set. Now, what was your question?
