do you guys perform side bends with weight?

i feel like im developing muscle on obliques doing side bends, but i feel like its more of a love handle issue, since it looks like its expanding it will look like love handles.

any other good obliques abs to do?

Nah, I used to but I personally find it a waste of time. I feel it in my obliques just fine when I do squats or when I do rack pulls with earth-splitting weight.

I really don't isolate or do core-specific exercises anymore. My midsection develops perfectly well by doing heavy compounds

    My thoughts exactly.
Heavy squats, good mornings, standing overhead lifts and clean pulls build rock solid obliques and abs.

nope , i feel like thats biggest waste of time. obliques need rotation , not side bend. and if you have love handles , thats definitely fat, not muscle. nobody can hypertrophy obliques that much

I do them as part of a core/ab routine I add on to the end of every other workout day. The other days I do cardio.

Unilateral carries. Plus the already mentioned barbell excercises. Side bends are kinda stupid imo as the spine probably doesn't wanna bend and twist under load.
I said probably. Everybody is different.

I used to quite a bit but not so much anymore. There are plenty of ab exercises that'll hit your obliques just fine. I like mountain climbers with cables.

Most twisting type movements will help.
Here are a few do a search, contact twists, russian twists, grave diggers and one hand deadlifts with a dumbbell or farmer walk handle.

I do them too every now and then and feel like they are a waste. Love handles are more of a fat thing like mentioned above. Cardio will do more than anything else for those. Like garage said, russian twists are the best in my opinion, i really feel it in my obliques with those.
