Can you lift with a torn bicep (tendon) ?

After blaming my deltoids for a while, I've now realized that there is something wrong with one of my biceps, both the proximal and the distal end of it, probably caused by my awful shoulder mobility and forced attempts at low-bar squats.

Aside from everything else I need to figure out and fix, I just want to know one thing: if I have broken something important, can I lift weight with that bicep? I don't mean "should" (obviously I shouldn't); I mean: is it possible for someone with a torn bicep to, say, curl what he was curling right before the injury, or do the same amount of chin-ups as he was doing before the injury?

Of course you can. You can do whatever you want.

You could deadlift with a fractured spine if you really wanted to.

But that would make you stupid...

Get it checked out and treated properly, otherwise you will find a minor injury can and will turn into a very nasty chronic injury.

So you're saying that it's physically possible to maintain the same level of performance with an injury of this type?

Either that or you can't read for ****. Please confirm which one it is.

    Dude...
I just got back from my ultrasound earlier today. Yet to hear results, but the doctor that sent me figures a torn bicep tendon (left). For months I have noticed bad pain and reverse curls were almost at pink weight status as it was such a sharp incredible pain. Never healed or went away even after taking a week off. Ignorantly muscled through it, heard horror stories from dudes I know. Such as "a guy I know tore it completely and the ligament snapped and went behind his shoulder, now he has a fukked up arm and can't ever lift *deformed/perma scar*)
So I saw the doc, his orders were to not ever touch anything upper body, not even suspend weight from it (ie lunges etc), until ultrasound results are back for further direction. Otherwise it's LDAR time with my perma fukked arm.

    So...anyway.
See your doc ASAP and don't touch weights! Dead serious.

So your diagnostic process of a bicep injury is to see how much you can curl?

If you suspect an injury you should be seeing a Physio, not asking dumb questions on forums.
