I'm thinking about transitioning into a keto diet and taking carbs completely out of the equation.
Before I do this, is it worth all the hassle? It's so hard to eat a ton of calories from foods without carbs.
Anyone that has done it, what's your input?

Im on PSMF at the moment. I consume only trace carbs.
It's a HUGE hassle for me personally, as I have to cook everything my self to be accurate with my cals and macro.
But I don't think Keto as strict as PSMF, so I guess it will be easier for you.
As far expense..hard to say, never counted how much I spent before on food. Right now I'm only buying chicken and extra lean turkey + tons of veggies, so not much.

Did Keto for 3 months with 3000 cals/day. Was losing weight at about 2-3lbs per week. First 2 weeks suck getting body to adjust but feel pretty good afterwords. My only gripe was my strength in weight lifting just wasn't the same without carbs. Burst power is down.
Pros were that I was never hungry, more alert in the morning and steady energy through out the day. Even able to burn fat on higher cals while maintaining lean body mass. I'd recommend giving it a shot. You'll lose weight.

I'm worried now about losing strength. I have tried the keto diet before and failed, i was hoping to try it again but thank you very much for that comment. I honestly don't think ill try it again seeing that all the comments on this thread give keto a bad name so why put myself in that position.
Thank you everyone for your response.

Yup, still requires deficit, but while on a high-carb/low-fat my body was all kinds of ****ed up, ended up going to the Dr's to find out why the hell everything was so wrong when I was counting everything to the oz. (I have lost a large amount of weight and managed to get down to 11% so no stranger to measuring properly).
For me LCHF works optimally for both cutting and growing, whilst maybe not 'optimal' to some (read: those who can follow standard diets with no real issue) - if I try eating even a normal (say 150g) amount of carbohydrate in a diet it just manifest serious issues.
Don't knock it out of hand if you happen to be able to handle a standard diet, Keto has achieved wonders for some of those less genetically agreeableJan 2012 - 286lb
