beltless work - do you do it?

i know a lot of guys do beltless work but some don't do it at all, what are your thoughts on it?

personally myself i get a lot out of my belt on my squat but not so much as far as my deadlift

I compete with a belt. So no need to not train with one.

Plus I usually need to get warmed up with it a little. Can't just throw it on for my working sets. I.E. I could do 315 squats without one but I need to get a couple sets in with it on before Repping in the 4's

I do this exactly. Belt at 315. Why? Its just convient to pull my belt out at that time. I need some rest before taking 315, so I take my belt out then, then go squat. I should probably put it on earlier, because squatting with a belt is the only time my squat feels good. I always feel like something is off when warming up without one.

I also compete with a belt in squats.

For deadlift, I don't compete with a belt. So I never pull with a belt.

within the past 6 months i've started to incorporate a lot of beltless training as I used to say what others have said, if you compete with a belt why train without one? and my lifts have gone up tremendously

It's probably just the mental cue of the belt. Honestly at 135,225 the weight is so light I catch myself not bracing before squatting. With the belt on it is apart of the "checklist". Doesn't make it right, just saying.

Not really, never saw much benefit doing so. Put myself more at risk of injury imo with the lack of tightness and IAP.

I do sometimes but never go above 80% of my max. Start light and you'd be suprised on how it can help build core strength. Beatles front squats are great.

Lack of hip mobility, lack of upper back strength or lack of thoracic mobility. Could be any of those which could be fixed whether you're using a belt or not.

I don't wear a belt the entire workout session, so I guess I do beltless work. ... not srs

More seriously though, I typically wear a belt when I'm doing my competition style lift and not when I'm doing a variation, e.g. I wear a belt when doing back squats but not front squats.
