I turn 51 this year.
I've been BBing for a little over 4 years now. I'm 5'9
Was at 25% BF when I started, went down to 9% last year (my AVI) bulked last winter to 17% and 200 lbs. and presently 184lbs and 14% BF cutting.
I plan on participating at a couple of Spartan race events so I am also trying to train for that.
My training routine is as follows:
Monday - 300 workout "extended" so basically to a 300 workout that I can do in 19'35" (personal best) after that I add 4x10 burpees, 4x10 short rope pull ups and 25 min light jog at 15% incline (will go back to leg workout - strength Monday, hypertrophy Friday - after September spartan race)
Tuesday push strength 5x5
Wednesday pull strength 5x5
Thursday same as Monday
Friday push hypertrophy 4x12
Saturday pull hypertrophy 4x12
I'm on a low carb diet, since I started cutting, 2,200 cals 50P30F20C. Hoping to get to 9% by July. (TDEE 2,700)
I am still seeing strength gains, but as I am cutting I am not seeing LBM increase after months of winter bulking at 4,500 calories....
My tape measurements are getting to the same as the pre-bulking at same BF %
My strength as I said though is up. I workout alone at my office (so no spotter) and my bench is 5x285, I curl concentration 5x75 DB and was front squatting 5x260. I don't DL for back pain
Now I am not sure if I should keep this intensity up. I am feeling good, but tired, and starting to get concerned over possible injuries.
Do you think I should revise my routing or until strength keeps going up leave it as it is?

There's folk far more experienced than I to give feedback on your routine, although for what it's worth, I always got tired after months of cutting and eventually found a strong correlation with carb intake (I needed more). I ended up sacrificing protein in return but can only say that it worked for me.
My main reason for my posting is because of your avi. I'm "only" early 40s but there are times when I really question whether the gruelling cuts are worth it, particularly as we get older and start fighting mother nature as well. To see your physique at age 50 is really inspirational and reminds me that there's plenty to work for. Thanks for that!Last edited by Caesura75; 05-18-2016 at 01:46 PM.
Accept difference. Not indifference.
