    first pair of knee wraps

I've used knee wraps maybe a handfull of times, but never had a pair of my own. Ive been thinking about doing some classic raw meets and was wondering if theres a certain thickness/brand that will suit well with someone who is a "beginner" using knee wraps?

Are you a faster or slower descender in your squat?

I myself started with a very used set (given to me by another PLer) of APT profession blue arrow knee wraps ; I used them up until 4 weeks out from my first week, when I switched over to a band new pair (I think I paid $36 for them). I am very happy with them and I am planning on continuing to use them for my second meet. I have tested some max lifts w/ and a/out them...I get between 40-50 lbs from them now, and I feel sooo much better squatting in them than when I squat in sleeves.

Jonathan Harder has done some crazy detailed knee wrap reviews if you'd like to take a look:
He has this hour-long whopping review:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8lViLXEmZrk
    And a shorter one here:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nnK6vVFLaG8

There is a lot of hype about knee wraps put out by nascent PL companies, but I'd direct you to something basic but tried and true.

Titan RPMs are a really nice stretchy wrap, and probably what I'd recommend to most beginners.

Inzer Grippers, Titan Titaniums, and Inzer Iron Zs are a tad heavier than RPMs, but also very proven wraps. All the Scandinavian IPF lifters have used Iron Zs since the dawn of time, and they are some of the best squatters on the planet.

After that, there are some heavier, cast-like wraps. I generally advise against these for beginners for two reasons.
    1) The heavier the wrap, the more different it will feel from squatting without wraps. For a beginner, it is easier to begin with a stretchier wrap.
    2) You might not like heavier wraps them. I don't and as far as I can tell, they don't add more to my squat than stretchy wraps. Stretchy wraps have more rebound, so for a more explosive squatter like myself, I can bounce of the stretchy wraps. Heavy, cast-like wraps slow down my squat and make it too ugly, and I'm too slow coming out of the hole.

That said, if you get some of those wraps and they feel too stretchy and you want something that won't move, then you can always buy a heavier wrap. In my experience, however, most beginners find even stretchy wraps a bit overwhelming when wrapped tightly for the first time.

Something that wont lock up hard and is pretty springy, so basically any IPF approved 2m wrap.

My first pair were Inzer True Black's and they worked very well for me.

Yeah, this is a more concise way of saying what I wrote in my long-winded post. And I forgot to mention Inzer True Blacks! Would definitely include those.

I think we re all guilty of getting too deep into the intricacies of knee wraps at times.

what federation do you plan on lifting in?
what is your pain tolerance, or do you mind that it is painful and you can maintain your form with the pain?
and like johnmacky asked are you a slow or fast descending squatter?

I like my Inzer Grippers. they don't last very long as the rubber begins to snap and break but they're super easy to put on since they don't slip once you pull them across. they've got a nice spring and I can wrap them pretty tight on my own.

First pair was Titan RPMs, then Inzer Z's, then Inzer Grippers, and now Strangulators. The first three pairs were really stretchy and great for when I first started wrapping because they were really easy to self-wrap. Stretchy wraps are good for teaching yourself to wrap.

I like the Iron Rebel Rhino knee wraps. They're pretty friendly in terms of self wrapping and have a lot of stretch to them. This makes it easier to get more revolutions out of the wrap.

I have these, and used them for the firts time last session. As someone who has never wrapped before, they were easy to self-wrap and get a feel for. Can't speak to them beyond this.
