For any muslims on the board, I was just wondering what you were planning on doing for this Ramadan, which is rapidly approaching in about 6 weeks. Bulk/cut? Time placements of meals? Workout times? Workout splits? Everything.
Last year I lost a lot during Ramadan and I was very disappointed. Just wondering what your plans were.
For anyone that doesn't know, Ramadan is a month in the muslim calendar where we are required to fast (no food, no water) from dawn to sunset. It's not that bad this year cuz sunset is going to be about 4:45, but i have classes starting from 8:30 so I can't really sleep all day and stay up all night. which is what I would normally do to minimize my losses.
Hope to hear any suggestions,
----------OJ

I always work out evenings anyway so i just workout a little later than normal after eating!!! Im normally around 6'1 230 12% b/f but after last ramadan i was down to 218 by the end of the month but after i gained it all back and then some bf went up. good question maybe some more experianced bros can post imho i would cut.

Bros what I usually do at this time of the year before ramadan is to begin overtraining a few weeks before fasting starts which then leaves me kinda burned out.
As a result i take a few weeks off from training during ramadan and then maybe this year I'll do some HIT for the last two weeks of ramadan.
SO first 2 weeks of ramadan: RESTING
NEXT 2 weeks: HIT twice a week

In reply to bigdaddyrich (nice username) After the month of ramadan I go back to my regular routine which means I train 4 times a week and will leave HIT.
Hey decypheredbeats the point of ramadan is to abstain completely from eating, drinking, intimate sexual contacts and smoking from the break of dawn till sunset.
Fasting teaches those who practice it devotion, patience, unselfishness, moderation, willpower, wise saving, sound budgeting, mature adaptability, healthy survival, discipline, spirit of social belonging, unity and brotherhood.
PS It ain't as HARD as everybody thinks!
PEACE

Yup, it can be tough.
Hakeem Olajuwon fasated too, even during playoffs! Nasser Alsonbaty might be muslim too, not sure if he fast tho.
Thanks for the replies, I'm still a little hesitant tho. I'd like to continue my bulking, but Ramadan is a nice time of gathering, and potentially a time to meet my future wife, whom I would like to impress with a nice physique rather than a big ball of pudge :-)
But I guess there's sacrifices to be made! Keep the replies coming tho, I like hearing everyone's thoughts

thatdamngood hopefully you won't lose that much muscle during ramadan and even if you do, you should be able to gain it pretty quick due to muscle memory. Plus ramadan only comes once a year make the most of it.
I also remember an article written on this very website about fasting and how it helps cleanse your intestines or something!
Not quite sure about the exact info but I'll post a link if I can find it!!

I actually eat like this most of the time because I'm SOOOO busy at work. After awhile you just seem to get used to it. I fast all day, but I do drink water and then I eat a big dinner. The thing I notice the most about this is that when it comes time to eat at around 7:00-7:30, I'm craving good foods like chicken, veggies and fruit so in a sense I AM eating more healthy.

hello brothers,
even though i cannot fast since i have an ailment that commits me to take medication during the day, hopefully i can offer advice that will help.
during ramadan you should make like your fat loosing phase. i know that your bf goes up from lifting weights...not a lot, better than seating on the couch. during ramadan with all the fasting you will a lot of bf. try taking some vitamins for during the day, right at sunrise breakfast, then if you can workout after sunset.
good luck and inshallah all will be well.

Make a clown of yourself??
Should I start pointing out things that christianity has done wrong??
Seriously, what do you think you achieve with these posts??It's not as hard as you think it is.
Educate yourself, but stop thinking too much...
