like in appearance/personality
i mean most cops are pretty douchey
but they have very masculine aesthetics
their avg height is like 6ft, they eat like chit but stay good looking (not talking about the fat donut munchers, but most of the others), they have imposing masculine bodies/broad shoulders, cocky/confident as fuk, etc.
Firemen are usually nicer, but they have the same physical traits. Is it cuz these were the football players and chit in high school? the brahs with the alpha genes but too fuking dumb to do anything else

Why are a lot of cops/firemen really alpha?

All of the ones I know do have a certain personality type...can see why they would pursue a job that's very high risk/service (just about all are ex military) They are trained as well to have an assertive presence that seems to carry over IRL for many (the way they walk, carry themselves)
As for the physical...varies I suppose...a lot.

I believe fireman at least have to exercise a certain amount per week while at the station(may be wrong but I think this is true) so they likely stay in better shape. Being in such a male dominated, bust balls, brotherhood environment likely helps with alpha personality
Id say cops are less likely to be alpha than firefighters though.

Being a fireman is about as close as you can get to playing a team sport. Team driven that you have to rely on each other at any moment. Almost everyone I work with played football/basketball/baseball in school. Very close knit locker room mentality. We are also required to PT for 1.5hrs each shift.

Are you a fireman? What advice would you be able to give to me if I wanted to pursue that career after uni?
I'm already planning to work on strength and cardio, be more social to emulate normal behaviour, join the st John's uni group for first aid training, includes ng emt, and maybe take fire technology classes if I can find some. I'm wondering what else I can do to prepare myself nd get n advantage in competition*Wish I was dead crew*

Too dumb to do anything else?
Lol @ taking a shot at the intelligence of those who SAVE YOUR LIFE
Firefighters need an understanding of chemistry to understand combustion and it's applications (obviously) and firefighters need common sense and know what the best way to stop a fire is
Police officers need a thorough understanding of laws, they also need common sense, need to be cunning to stop criminals, need criminology, forensics, etc etc
I mean, I'm neither a fire fighter nor a policeman nor do I know much about their jobs (I'm probably only scratching the surface), but you need to give these guys a lot more credit than that

Yep. Part of our SOGs/SOPs. Each department is different, however most have either a daily/weekly/monthly goal that should be reached. Most of the older guys slack off, but can't really blame them though. They just don't have the drive anymore and are waiting to retire.
I personally love having a job with a physical fitness requirement. Keeps you in check.*Cancer Survivor Crew* *Firefighter/EMT Crew*

Because humans are like ants, born into different genetic castes. Those with high testosterone etc. will inevitably end up in a job like law enforcement, sports, bodybuilding, manual labor etc. On the other hand you have people who can be characterized by smaller frames, higher brain capacity that couldn't do these things even if they tried (and vice versa) and generally end up as doctors, dentists, businessmen, scientists etc.
Almost got me to respond!Chest wounds suck (when properly inflicted).

Yes sir, seven years. In the US, the best advice i can give is to get your paramedic, then work on your fire certification after. That way you can work as a medic, made pretty decent money, and apply to departments as you work on the certs. Look into the the CPAT test. Will give you an idea of the physical requirements that alot of departments are looking for.
