CLIFFS:
-Mickey the pit bull attacked Kevin Vicente inflicting serious injuries that require multiple surgeries
-The dog was scheduled to be euthanized but supporters have a restraining order against it
-They say the dog was reacting normally after the child tried to take the dog's bone
-Signatures on a petition aimed at saving the life of a pit bull that mauled a four-year-old boy have exceeded 44,000
-A decision about Mickey's fate will be made in late March
A campaign to save a pit bull that viciously attacked a four-year-old Arizona boy now has almost 45,000 signatures from supporters around the world who don't want the dog to be put down.
The fate of Mickey, a five-year-old pit bull terrier, was supposed to be decided on March 4, but a restraining order against his euthanasia was extended until a decision can be made about his fate.
Mickey was chained in his own South Phoenix backyard when four-year-old Kevin Vicente reached for a bone lying nearby and was attacked by Mickey. His facial injuries were severe and he faces multiple surgeries and permanent scarring.

In b4
But but but..all pitbulls aren't like this!!!
I read stories everyday in the news about how a golden retriever mauls some poor kid or kills someone.Survival. When the jungle tears itself down and builds itself into something new. Guys like you and me, we end up dead. Doesn’t really mean anything. Or, if we happen to live through it, well that doesn’t mean anything either.

lol seriously? If that was my kid I would want the dog euthanized. Sad when more people demand respect for animals than human beings.

Interesting quote I saw on Live Leak
'Pit bull defenders are some of the most illogical, clueless, head-in-the-sand halfwits on the planet. They will not listen to reason, it's as simple as that. The bottom line is this: all dogs are capable of snapping, but a pit bull can kill you in a matter of seconds. You know what? Chihuahuas are one of the most aggressive, unfriendly breeds out there. But if a chihuahua attacks your kid, the worst that's going to happen is a band aid or a couple of stitches. A pit bull can cause a child life changing or fatal injuries in less than the time it takes you to get your gun or a knife. And yes, they ARE more aggressive than most other dogs, no matter HOW WELL the owners have raised them! Here in New York, dog owners at the Tompkins Square dog run have taken to bringing knives with them to the park in order to protect themselves and their dogs from frequent pit bull attacks. And the owners of these pits aren't thug scumbags who treat them like ****, they're your typical mix of right-on East Village artists/hippies/yuppies and generally gentle, non-violent people who shower their dogs with love and affection. I have been frequenting dog runs in New York for at least 15 years and I can say without a shadow of a doubt that pit bulls start more fights than any other breed, and when they do, the damage is MUCH more severe than with other breeds.
Anyone who claims these dogs make ideal family pets are dangerously stupid to the point where they should have their kids taken away from them. How many more children have to get mauled to death by this killer breed before the scales fall from these ****wit's eyes? Time and time again I've heard them roll out this absolutely ridiculous bull**** about them having been used as "nanny dogs" in the olden days. This is pure bunkum which has been spread because of a few posed photos that were taken back in the day of pitbulls with babies. There is not one single shred of evidence which suggests that pits were ever used to "protect" children, yet idiots all over the net repeat this bull**** as if it were fact.
I'm tired of arguing with these idiots. They won't listen to facts, they won't listen to the statistics, they won't listen to common sense, and they demonstrate beyond doubt that their fanatical obsession with proving that pitbulls are "misunderstood" is more important to them than the lives of their children and everyone around them. Total scumbags.'
Apparently the above dog had recently killed a puppy too. Non violent animal of peace. The babysitter knew the dog it was her boyfriend's. She was a witness so he wasn't completely unattended.Last edited by MancChap; 03-16-2014 at 08:35 PM.

>'They’re saying that it was Kevin’s fault because he was spoiled, and they don’t even know Kevin. And they don’t even know the dog, either.'
You fukin wut m8? 4 year old spoiled because he was curious what that thing the dog was playing with was? If these their faces were in the dog's mouth when it locked jaw I think they would have a very different opinion.

wtf..ANY dog (not just a pit bull) that attacks like this should be put down...from a pittbull, lab to a ****in Chihuahua
Just saw the dog was chained up...what kind of BS owners...chaining a dog is a red flag...for both the dog and owners..increasing the chance of it becoming aggressive and shows it is aggressive bc it needs to be chained
and where the **** are the parents...I would NEVER let my 4 year old son near a chained dog...

When I was a kid, my brother took a bone out of my my aunts beagle's possession (was lying between his paws). Beagle lit him up. I think it was close to 50 stitches (ended up getting infected on top of that).
Point is, dogs are possessive like humans. You take my stuff, I'll call the cops. Dogs can't call the cops. Pits are powerful dogs. From the time they're puppies, you need to be putting your hand in their bowl while they eat and take toys, etc from them to show you're in charge and get them acclimated with that environment.
Not defending the dog, it simply reacted as most dogs do, unfortunately he's a powerful dog.
These threads will always pop up and pitbull attacks will always occur. We don't hear about beagle attacks, lab attacks or cocker spaniel attacks, because people don't feed into that. It's the big bad deadly pitbulls we love to hate.
I hated pitbulls. Didn't want to be around them, thought only thugs and drug dealers owned them. I ended up rescuing one with a broken leg, rehabbed him and if I walked into a burning building with a can of gasoline, he'd be right behind me. I've done a 180 on pits and looking to rescue another very soon.
Again, not defending pits. Hate them of you want but for every negative, media driven story, there's a million positive stories about pits.
If you can handle one, don't own one.#Penis
