Hi ladies! I'm sure some of you have belly piercings and I have a question for those of you who do. I want to get my belly pierced but at the same time I lift weights. Does anyone have any advice because I'd like to continue training but at the same time not irritate the piercing.

I have one and lifting does not affect it in any way. Not sure why it would...

No one is going to care more about your progress than you. Everyone else is too busy chasing their own. You either do what you need to do to progress, or you remain where you are. The choice is yours.

it may irritate you the first few weeks, i would avoid most ab work for a while, but i defiantly wouldn't suggest not getting it because of lifting, you will still be able to perform most exercises, just with abit of discomfort (i got my done before i started lifting but i do remember ab work was out of the question and KILLED like a b****) , defiantly worth the belly piercing though haha!
Pain is only temporary .

Just make sure to clean it after your workout to make sure it doesn't get nasty from the sweat.
What are you using to clean it? The best things for me were cleaning mine with rock salt on a regular and then a little diluted tea tree oil whenever I feared infection. I don't know what your pain tolerance is like but I never felt my belly ring during it's healing process unless it hooked on something. Then I saw white.

It is going to sound funny but your pants / top of skirt / top of workout clothes will probably bug it more than working out per se. As noted above, make sure to clean it well (I was given a small spray bottle with a water / rubbing alcohol mix it in for this purpose by my piercer)

I have one and have never experienced any issues. For the gym, you might want to stay with a smaller piece of jewelry- something that doesn't dangle and won't get caught on anything. Coming from someone who wears dangly ones everywhere, though, you should realistically be fine.

Mine grew out... Had it done 18 years ago and about 6 years ago it got to the point where it was so shallow I couldnt wear anything in it. Weird, as pierced ears don't do that.

I cannot wear body jewelry in my navel piercing; only the thinnest wire hoops. Which is fine, I like little hoops there.

Not sure why you couldn't take it out long enough to lift?
It's not going to close up by the time that you leave the gym.

I can't even tell mine is in. It will be sore the first couple of weeks but other than that you will be fine.

Be careful on the rowing machine. About a week after I got mine I did my warm up on the rower then went about my weight training. Then caught sight of myself in the mirror and my whole shirt was soaked in blood. They REALLY bleed if knocked. It stopped after about 10 minutes with a bit of first aid from the gym staff but I had to abandon my work out as I was all shaky & nauseous!

I've had one for several years before I started lifting, but I don't see any reason why it should affect your workouts. Maybe do it before a rest day, and keep clothing away from it while you work out until you're confident it won't snag on anything, but it shouldn't be a problem as long as you're keeping it clean like they tell you to.

Thanks everyone! I ended up getting it today! I may have a rest day tomorrow or do a cardio day on the treadmill
