I think in context of the thread, a woman's metabolism is higher post-menstruation and more calories are burned.
What type of birth control pill is your girlfriend taking?
There are many different types, some which actually reduce the PMS symptoms and would probably not increase the metabolism as much.
Whether the pills completely stop the ovulation or not is also important.
