So sad, but true. Based on observation, I would say that by around the age of 25, as long as you are not either deathly skinny or have the bloated look that so many people do, people will call you "fit" or "in shape".
The hardest time to look impressive, is between the ages of like 16-23, after that, so many people go downhill so fast that you can easily have an impressive physique with little effort.
What's even better is that a lot of the people who are fit as adults are the cardio type though (i.e. skinny runners) so if you lift seriously as an adult you will be considered a rarity.
Contrary to popular belief, it's actually easier to appear as if you are in great shape as you get older because:
1) There's less expectations put on you
2) There's way less competition, so you stand out easily with little effort.
Even if you give up lifting at some point in your life, as long as you maintain a healthy weight, you'll be considered fit.

If you can avoid looking bloated past age 25 ppl will think of you as being "fit"

I've noticed this as well.
After 25 or so is when guys start letting go and getting sloppy.
So, you figure 75% of the male population looks all saggy and busted. Women see this and start thinking this is the average. The sack of mush they wouldn't touch at 18-22 now looks OK because everyone else looks like ****. The guy who takes a little time with his fitness, but still looks like ****, looks 10x better compared to everyone else the girl is looking at.
Now, if you are 25+ and still look shredded/built as fuark, the possibilities are endless. Even if your face is less than a 7-10, you'll still pull 7+ sloots.
Even if you don't make 10k/day, you'll still pull 7+ ass.
Even if you are beta as ****, you'll still pull 7+ ass.
I'm 27 and I'm in pretty good shape. Casuals think I look incredible. Feelsgoodman.jpg

It's true. Around mid to late 20's all my friends started getting disgusting and dumpy.
People at your workplace start to notice you are in good shape, comment about it, but then hold it against you, or try to always talk about pseudo health like fad diets, and when you start talking about nutrition & excercise, it turns into resentment.
The real popular culture is to be lazy and out of shape, regardless of what the media says. People are definitely NOT getting healthier. They are just spending alot more money on Zumba classes and Organic waffles.[[[]==[]]] [[[]==[]]]

This. Go to the gym and leave feeling average/below average.
Go to office the next day and people think you are the hulk. Even though I workout 3-4 days a week I completely down play it at work "oh, maybe workout once in a while." So many emasculated shells of men in offices, beaten down by the daily grind and their home lives.

Its because during your mid twenties you start getting more responsibilities. You begin to settle down, pay bills, have kids etc. People get worn out by the daily grind and lifting is not their top priority anymore. Also the older you get, career and status matters a lot more than physical appearance. Not to mention your metabolism slows down a lot around that age.
