So after talking to a few friends who compete I'm planning on competing in October. This will be my first competition and I'm curious as to how you all think I'll do. Right now I weigh about 150 pounds and my lifts are as follows: 245 bench, 355 squat (for 3), 375 deadlift (estimated, haven't done deadlifts when I'm fresh in a long time, I normally do them after squats and I'm not using sumo form, I'm assuming I can get more once I get use to sumo form). My friends tell me I'll do great with those numbers but I'm a little skeptical after checking out Florida records for my weight and seeing they are WAYY above mine. Either way I have some time to prepare still. I'm hoping I can get my squat up to 400 and my deadlift over 400 by then,

I think you stand a chance to be the only 148 Raw Junior competitor at the meet and automatically win 1st place.

At placing decent.
Well I'm 22 so I wont be able to compete in Junior, I hear there's only one other guy who normally competes in my weight class and he's not putting up much, if that's true than I should be good. I'm just wondering how I'll do against the average person in my weight class.Check out my Promera Sports Capsi-Blast log!

You stand a chance of setting yourself 3 meet Prs, meeting some really nice and helpful people, learning a lot from the experience and having an overall great time.. oh and i have no clue what youll place.. lol who cares just go do ur best.. i have fun whether i get first or dead last
EDIT: If you just wanna take home some hardware and win first, just enter a lot of divisions lol.. 24 and under is normally junior so u should still be able to compete in JR, OPEN combined, ur welcomeCurrent lifts / RAW goals @ 181

Actually he does have a chance at winning, u dont know whos going to show up in his division and weight, nor do u know how much progress he will make until the meet date..
No problem, and yea junior in most feds ive seen is going to be 24 and under or 23 and under, I compete in both divisions when I have the extra cash just to compete with more people and challenge myself. Just work hard be smart, and learn as much as u can until meet day. and dont listen to people who say ou dont have a chance to win.. thats stupid.Current lifts / RAW goals @ 181

Junior is 20-23 for USAPL (I'm assuming that is the fed/meet your talking about). And as you said, there is really only 1 consistent 148 raw competitor, Tyler Mohammed. Pretty strong kid but he is an Open competitor so you wouldn't even have to deal with him if you went Junior. I would say your chance of winning 1st place just by showing up is 90% and your chance of getting a medal is 100%. So I would say not to worry about that. Worry about making all your lifts, learning how a meet is run, meeting strong people (I might be there though I'm not strong), and having fun of course.
