Srs. I used to drink in high school and some of college when I wanted to have fun at parties and stuff, but I can't do it anymore. It is absolutely disgusting and EVERY time I drink it I feel poisoned and nauseous.
brb puking my guts out
brb feel like death the next day
brb that feel the next day when you burp and can taste the liquor in your breath and want to hurl
I can't be the only one who can't stand drinking

I'm partially with you OP. I used to get hammered a lot until I realized I couldn't keep it up forever. Something had to change. Got tired feeling like chit and spending so much money on booze.
Learned moderation.
Now I have a beer or two every once in awhile.OEF/OIF/OIR Vet (2007-2013)

most people here in UK (probably very similar culture in Australia) drink to get drunk, and a lot don't even actually like how alcohol tastes they just like how it makes them feel, its just a culture thing (albeit a very chit one) I know people who make vile tasting drinks like half a pint of vodka mixed with coke on purpose just to get drunk quicker, even though it taste vile lol
I know a few people who drink real Ales and do so because they like the taste, but this is really a super minority (in people around my age anyway, much more common among middle aged people)
the sterotype of the English pub and people going and enjoying a few pints is on the decline, due to high tax coupled with the rise of cheap booze in super markets. for the younger generations its all about binge drinking, taste doesn't even come into it for most.
EDIT: you will also notice, people in this thread who seem to disagree or say they enjoy the taste are predominately from the US, which has a very different drinking culture.Last edited by sd3; 03-19-2013 at 01:51 AM.

Different strokes for different folks.
I drink whiskey straight and vodka soda and really enjoy the taste. Not everyone is going to enjoy the same things opie*dallas misc crew*

fixed.
It only does this to people who go seriously overboard in consumption, or have a severe intolerance. alcohol is poisonous in certain quantities, and to certain people, it is objectively not poisonous when it doesn't reach that required criteria - ie when I have, say, 4 pints of beer. it's not an opinion, alcohol is a pretty well understood substance in regards to being poisonous.Feathered Nether Regions

Alcohol holds a special place in my heart.
You are your thoughts. Life is perception, thoughts are perception, perception is reality ergo thoughts are reality, I think therefore I am.

I don't understand it either OP. However alcohol has the tendency to make you feel like you can do "anything", it makes all the nerves and stress go away. This makes if easier to talk to random sloots and come off as alot more confident. I'm not a big drinker but when I do drink it's so I can actually talk to people without looking like some kind of FA weirdo or to forget about my problems for a few hours.

yer I agree mate, but most people don't see it that way, that's what i mean by the culture of drinking, its so ingrained and seen as the norm people don't really see how chit and bad for them it really is, nor question why they do it, so many people think it taste like chit, hate how they feel the next day, but just accept it because everyone else is doing it and have a "its just what everyone does" kind of attitude.
i'd say 90% of people around my age here in UK drink because of how it makes them feel, not because of the taste. I don't think there is anything wrong with drinking if people do it in moderation and for the right reasons i.e. they actually do like the taste☆☆☆υк яєω☆☆☆

Op another big part is I feel fine after drinking, sure I have hang overs but I haven't thrown up since I was maybe 17-18 and rarely feel bad the next day.

I know that feel brah. I got them Asian drinking genetics. Sometimes I feel sick if I have 3-4 drinks. Beer tastes like sh*t, I don't know why anyone likes it. Only time it tastes good are the first 2-3 sips on a hot day, but after that it's just bitter water. Hard liquor is groce as well to me. They all taste like burning paint thinner. I really don't know how people develop the taste for that man. I guess it's good in a way, it keeps me from blowing money on alcohol and keeps me from being an alcoholic since I get sick pretty ez.
This partly explains it I guess
