How to know what movements work which muscles?

So I was thinking and I was wondering if I am in the right in terms of muscle recruitment in certain movements. Say I extend my arm, it makes my tricep flex. Does that mean that that movement will tear my tricep's muscle fibers if I apply weight to it? Same goes for anything else really. Say I do a certain movement and it makes my bicep flex hard as ****, does that mean that that movement with added weight would be a good bicep exercise?

^check an exercise database, or learn anatomy.

If you do a movement and your bicep is contracted, then yes it would work your bicep. Is it a good bicep exercise? not necessarily.

there is no real way to tell. A good workout program will have a lot of random exercises in hopes you will hit the parts of your body that you want to make bigger/stronger. The people on here saying there is some kind of science behind it are trolls, please neg them.

    hope this helps.
