Basically, right now Im just starting a cut, and am going to drop 25-30 lbs. I'm 199 lbs right now, and a guy btw. My a$$ and thighs have quite a bit of fat and muscle (I played hockey for a while) on them, It's just a mixture. When I'm finished my transformation in 4 months, I want to be able to fit nicely into a size 31 waist jeans, I want to REALLY tone down my thighs and a$$, and not make them stay the same or get even bulkier. Basically, should I still be doing barbell squats, leg extensions, leg curls, etc, or should I do bodyweight exercises like jump squats and lunges? I know there's no such thing as spot reduction, I just want to tone down my a$$ and thighs in the process of my cut. I'll still be doing calf raises btw, as they are fine. Any tips though?

You may be genetically pre-disposed to have big legs. I know I am, I've had huge guys in the gym even say "You just naturally have big legs don't you?" and I said "yeah", dad has huge legs too. Built like a RB with the legs and ass, makes finding jeans very interesting. I'm starting a cut too, going from 216 downt o about 195 or maybe 190.
Good luck with the legs bro but I would just go ahead and train them.

Like others have said you won't accidentally get too big.
Maybe I can't sympathize with the situation because I don't have heavenly blessed legs and glutes. But I'd much rather buy jeans to fit my sick wheels."The hardship of the exercises is intended less to strengthen the back than to toughen the mind. The Spartans say that any army may win while it still has it's legs under it; the real test comes when all strength has fled and the men must produce victory on will alone." (Pressfield,1998, p.78)
