Is protein quality relevant to gains?

Just a thought. Does protein from meat provide higher quality protein than that of a supplement such as whey protein? Will I have to eat a substantial amount of chicken breast for instance to gain quality muscle mass compared to a vegan who eats broccoli and other sources for his protein intake?

Well there are all kinds of different proteins. Egg,whey, beef, soy.

The body adsorbs it as a protein no matter where it came from. Some proteins like eggs have higher amino acid ratios that help in adsorbing into the body.

But generally if your aiming to consume say 200g of protein a day, it doesn't matter if it came from fish or chicken.

Whey is arguably the best source of protein.

If you're eating the recommended amount for a sedentary individual, it makes sense to aim for good 'quality' protein. If you're eating 3-4x that amount, the protein source isn't nearly as important.

whey and animal protein is basically all the same

vegetable protein is of lesser quality and would have to be eaten at higher amounts technically

as long as most of your protein is from animals then youre good
