I am one of the weirdo's that actually really LIKES shredded wheat. And I am talking like plain jane Muffets or whatever, not Frosted Mini Wheats.
I have noticed that very few people on here ever mention eating shredded wheat, it's really about oats for breakfast and I was wondering why. I just bought myself a box for some change in my breakfast routine but I want to make sure that I am not missing something... Like Shredded wheat is as bad as eating cardboard nutrition-wise.
Thoughts?

I love shredded wheat. Haven't had it in such a long time.
I think oats are one of those traditional bb foods that are easy to beef up with protein (powder, egg whites etc.). They would be marginally higher in protein and less refined as well.
If it fits your plan and you like it, eat it. No need to go the oats route if you prefer something else.Goal: Peace, love & happiness...and arms that go bump in the night.

I don't think it matters where you get your grain from - oats, a mixture of grains, high fiber cereal, shredded wheat, high fiber bread, etc. It all does about the same thing...it's just a carb source. Some of it has more fiber in it than others, but for the most part the nutrition is the same. Oats are versatile because you can stir protein into them. But I also mix milk and protein powder together and pour it over my cold cereal, and that would probably be good with shredded wheat too.
