Lol, I wish we were getting those yeilds. I am averaging about a bale per acre, which is more than I thought I would. It was an extremely dry year here in South Texas. I have customed picked for other farmers who were averiging 1/2- to two bales an acre. It all just depended on what areas got the rainfall.

On a good year, we will average about 2 to 2.5 bales per acre on dryland.

Cool.I've been waiting for you to start the pick,and ask.It's a winter crop over here,drier,but have to wait some mornings for the moisture to dry off,and some nights finish early around ten when it gets too damp.Some of the farms more south have a late defoliate too,and tend to have a lot of unopened fruit.

Same here. We ususally don't start picking until 10:00 CST. because of the moisture. Sometimes, if the moisture isn't too bad, we can pick until midnight. We defoliate too, but we can still pick the cotton before all the leaves fall. Cotton strippers have to wait until it is fully defoliated, but they can go through a field faster than the pickers can.
