I didn't start growing until I ________________________________________________.
Note: I am specifically talking about post-noob gains. Because as we all know, during the first year of training, virtually anything works.
We are all looking for the key that unlocks our potential for growth. Maybe something you say will help someone else who has hit the wall.

I didn't start growing until I concentrated on training mostly compound lifts, and stopped eating like a 10-year-old girl and started eating like a bodybuilder.
No brain, no gain.

I contracted Hepatitis A and was forced to take more than 3 months off completely from training (or doing much of anything for that matter). I "peaked" at 185 lbs before Hep A, didn't really lose much weight during the hiatus, got to 200 lbs within 6 months after resuming training and beat my previous best in a lot of lifts.

Post-newb gains- I did keep gaining for a couple years, but then hit a plateau.
I had to take my compound lifts more seriously = Westside for Skinny Bastards for a lifting plan, eating more protien, and getting more sleep. Gained almost 10 lbs in the following 4 months. A few pounds were fat, no doubt, but my main lifts all went up by 10-15%.

Yep. Metabolism is a variable that everyone has to figure out for himself. I tend toward easy weight gain, and I remember you tend toward difficulty in that area...meaning, without the right amount of protein and correct training, you'd be skinny fat, and I'd be fat fat.

1.Started training more frequently and with more volume.
2.Stopped listening to the wrong "experts"
3.Buried my cardio bunny
4.Upped my protein and fat intake, dropped my carb intake."I'm not a Ninja, but I played one on TV." -cmoore, American Ninja Warrior (ANW 7,8)

Still riding the newb gains. Till it doesn't work following most of the old bro science. Yep I have my shake in the middle of the night.
Disclaimer: it won't work for mostMy journal, not detailed, but heck I never keep track of much anyhow. http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=121196291&p=863931421#post863931421
