That's what I told my Dr I have. Scheduled an appointment because both knees have been bothering me a lot and the right is far worse. Can't keep it bent at a 90º angle for more than a few minutes or massive pain sets in. Couple weeks ago I was squatting and wasn't going very heavy at all with a lousy 225, bent down and as soon as I did my right knee just about gave out and I had searing hot pain. Now this damn joint has bothered me for yrs, in 06 during the 9 hr flight back from Europe I was ready to cry and almost wished I had coughed up the extra $$$$$ for 1st class.
He poked an prodded and said everything felt fine, nothing seemed out of place or loose. Going tomorrow or friday for x-rays to see what's going on. He's thinking it may be arthritis, wouldn't shock me if it is.

No $hit! I never really noticed how crappy my knees felt because compared to the rest of me they were ok, but now that I have gotten in better shape...still a long way to go...and my shoulders no longer bother me, lower back is getting better, etc. I noticed the damn knees are really holding me back right now.

Awww man, I'm sorry. That really does suck. The hubs has the same issue, but he's a young buck of only 35.... Hope a little rest gets the job done and hope they don't suggest surgery, I just think that makes things worse.

good luck with that! I'm 3 weeks post op today and had my first phys therapy session. I now get to do a few exercises - one of which I hate, a lot, and that is trying to jam the back of my knee into a flat surface. yeah try THAT when you're still swollen and your leg seems permanently bent. been back at the gym since 1.5 weeks post op tho - working on recumbent bike for ROM and also working upper with weights. Hell yes I do not let the damn grass grow lol. I am going to do the ROM exercises faithfully twice a day like I was told, because the sooner I can get to 120 or so on the bend then the sooner I can start back on training lower body.
By the way, the surgery was just a stop gap measure to prevent the inevitable - TKR. Next up, once I'm less effused and the knee has a chance to settle down more is viscosupplementation. I went into the doc for some serious pain in my knee, I swear I thought I tore my acl or something. An mri and xray later they tell me I have some serious arthritis. I've never been more disappointed. If it were a tear or something they could fix it but this is something that just lingers.
The only thing that has helped in the least in Glucosamine and Chondroitin.
Stay safe OP.

I hear ya OP. Hang in there! I also have lots of knee trouble. I have chondromalacia in both with the left being worse and it really deters my abilities. My Ortho surgeon told me that if any of them give out I will most likely need a knee replacement but the surgery and technique for that is much better than it was 15 years ago when my trouble started. I may elect to have it done anyway before I am too old and my recovery will be more difficult.

It's who I am and why i'm so fukkin lovable.
I took glucosamine for at least 6 months and honestly didn't feel any difference, same with the fish oil which I have taken for 2 yrs, don't notice a damn thing. However a few months ago I decided to try Collagen with hylaronic acid and I honestly believe it helped me get over golfers elbow. The pain was so bad at 1 point I couldn't do and pulling lifts, now they don't bother me at all and the elbows fine.
I have already been diagnosed with arthritis in my spine a couple yrs ago, doesn't seem to hamper me too much other than chronic lower back pain..not severe but it's enough that I don't dare do deadlifts anymore or I am laid up in bed for the next 3-4 days."You know that little thing in your head that keeps you from saying things you shouldn't? Cartilage damage in both knees, Bakers Cyst in the right knee. My knees are noisy and hurt just about all the time. All at the ripe old age of 38! Actually, they have bothered me for as long as I can remember. I have only recently gone to a doctor about them. I just keep on chuggin'.
I have been on Glucosamine/Chondroitin now for a few weeks. I'm on the fence about whether or not it's helping.

Just recently had my left leg crushed by a forklift, had to use crutches and put all my weight on right leg. My right knee is crap from football and two surgeries years back. I am rehabbing now and my right knee is hurting all the time and left leg is weak. Doc says I will need right one replaced soon and then left one within a few years from crushing damage. All this at 53 yrs, most of the time I feel about 95 trying to move around.

My mom went through something similar a few years ago. She completely tore every ligament in her good (left) knee in a motorcycle accident. She spent all her rehab time putting extra load on her bad (right) knee, basically ruining the joint. She had it replaced. Now she shuffles around like an old grandma. She's 55 years old.
I think I inherited her lousy knees. If it weren't for weight training, mine probably be in far worse shape than some noise, pain and stiffness. When I first started squatting, I had to wrap them in order to squat without pain. Now that I'm stronger, the wraps are collecting dust.
