Just read an article on BB.com...It said to take 2-3g of fish oil at breakfast, lunch, and bedtime; that totals to 6-9g of fish oil daily. However, my GNC Triple Strength Fish Oil Sport says to only consume 2 pills daily - and that doesn't even get me a gram total. These amounts correlate to both EPA and DHA each.
I've done a little research but I'm now confused because the consensus says to consume more. But why does the directions limit it to so little? Should I disregard the directions altogether? I'm not one to ignore directions so I want to make sure this is safe. Thanks to anyone who can help.

1-2g combined EPA/DHA daily is recommended.

Personally I take 3-3.5g of EPA/DHA daily depending on the brand. Currently I'm take NOW Ultra Omega 3. I dose this at 2 gel caps in the morning and 2 gel caps at night for a total of 3g of EPA/DHA. If you consumer a healthy amount of fish weekly, you might not need as much. If not, studies show that a heavy dose of EPA/DHA daily has tons of great health benefits.
Get your fish oil in!
I personally recommend NOW Ultra Omega 3, SAN Triple Fish Fats, & Controlled Labs Oximega.

Personal needs really. I find 1-2 more than sufficient.

He's asking about the grams of fish oil needed per day. More specifically EPA and and DHA. He wasn't asking for a brand.
I don't know the exact answer, but there is s threshold requirement needed in order to benefit from the effects, and specifically a higher amount which is needed that will increase protein synthesis.
