run down, dangerous and ghetto as ****.
Houston is currently the drug trafficking hub of the United States and the Zeta are running wild in this city. It's scary as fukk going anywhere on the southside, east side, downtown/ward area or north houston when it gets dark (srs).
Also, we are known specifically for codeine use down here. It got even worse after hurricane katrina and crime rates increased (no racist). You can literally drive around this city and see at least one drug bust or sale go down.

No but I work about 2 miles from that Fuddruckers and I'm aware of the govt housing. Houston should be embarrassed by having Greenspoint mall near the airport.
They should just burn that place down.
Houston is just like any other city. Good areas and bad.

Live in the Medical District currently, U of H is in the 5th ward, ghetto as **** around there. Think i'm going to get killed/robbed walking to my car half the time.
"Come over here, then," I said. He responded with, "You come over here.'I didn't hesitate. I got up and walked over to the foot of his bed.

lol you must never have been to New Orleans
i was just there a couple months ago for a few weeks and was all over the city including the 9th and 7th wards and that city is fine and back to normal. New Orleans is actually one of the best cities in the country and one of the only remaining cites with its own culture
OP need to stfu he has no idea what he is talking about
Houston isnt even bad they have one of the best economies in the country
theres just as much drugs running through Southern Cal/Arizona maybe more than Houston....you arnt special
oh yeah go to city-data.com Houstons crime rate including murder rate is at its safest in over 12 years you know?

I highly recommend Montgomery county. Lived in the area for 9 years, it was wonderful.
Now, to OP. Dude, it's not that bad at all. I love this city, it sounds like you're just in all the wrong areas. Brb Rice Village, brb City Center, brb River Oaks, brb Galleria/Uptown, brb Memorial, brb historic downtown, brb downtown tunnels, brb everywhere but where you mentioned. Practically every major city has its ghetto areas. Houston is incredibly widespread, so its ghetto areas (3rd and 5th ward) are just a bit big. There are tons of spots that are quiet, friendly, even lavish. I would say much more of Houston is nice than is dangerous/sketchy. Even the heights have improved a ton over the past 10 years.
I've lived in the Houston area and surrounding all my life (and in the city itself for 3 yrs), and I've never seen a drug bust, anywhere.

ITT some posters who never been near the ghetto and even when they get close the get nervous and lock their doors
Houston is a big city im pretty sure you live 10 miles from any hoods.
I drive through the bad parts in my city all the time. as long as you dont start crap, sell drugs or are in a gang you literally have nothing to worry about most of the time

wait why do you think its becoming so bad again? the worst period of time i remember was 05 and06 when there was literally a murder every day and then some. i heard sirens all night every night and there was a driveby at a drug dealers house on my normally quiet middleclass street in 06. idk though there was a murder like 3 blocks from me a week ago and last night i saw 3 police helicopters at different points in time and i still live in a decent neighborhood, maybe things are getting worse
