    Is starting strength for me?

I am 140 lbs 5ft 10 and 18 years old, I have been skinny fat for a while, in the past it was mainly fat but now I am at about 14% body fat allmost no muscle because I followed a 1200 cal diet, stupid mistake...I have been lifting weights for about 2-3weeks now, nothing special at first was doing 4 days then 3 days but people say I should follow a plan, I want to bulk up, get bigger and stronger, I am aiming for about 160lb+ I have been eating 2700-2800 cals a day tracking it on fitday 350g/150g/80g carbs/pro/fat, I also use supplements like whey and creatine after my workouts.
Like I said I want to get bigger and stronger, people say a good place to start is the staring strength program or a 5x5 program, was going to do stronglifts but heard the extra 2 sets are just to practice form, what is the best workout for me?

Also since I am here I wanted to ask I lost about 2kg when I checked yesterday morning...should I up the cals? or am I supposed to loose some weight being a beginner bulking? also why does every sight say drink whole milk? I dont drink it much just incase the lactose might effect me but I am not sure if it doess or not, should I start drinking milk?

I have read the stickie and done some research so please dont say read stickies.

I think you should do SS. I think you should also buy the book. No need for supplements - just eat a lot. Macros look alright, although you'll eventually need to up the protein in the future. I wouldn't eat less fat than that. As far as calories go, just maintain your diet for a couple of weeks and adjust as needed. Factors like water retention and colon content make frequent weigh ins useless. Unless you're lactose intolerant, drink as much milk as you like. It's a very easy way to get in protein (and calories with whole milk).
The more that you read, the more things you'll know.
The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.

    Workout A
    3x5 Squat
    3x5 Bench Press
    1x5 Deadlift

    Workout B
    3x5 Squat
    3x5 Press
    5x3 Power cleans

Is that the main program? just do 3 workouts a week on non consecutive days?
Will this program benefit me more on bulking and strength gains than Stronglifts 5x5?
I cant do chins because I dont have anything to do them with, will inverted rows do the same job?
Will I be lifting heavy every day and will progress be linear? can I start with a heavy weight I can do 3x5 on and keep adding weekly?

Both work. Choose what is best for you.

You don't need to do chins. You can. However, you should weight at least 1 month before adding accessory work.

Right, so now I am ready to fully dedicate myself to bulking up, I have finished everything that was stopping me to in the past, now my question is:

I have allot of spare time, will it be good if I workout 5 days a week concentrating on each body part?

    OR

Will I gain more muscle and stength on 5x5 Stronglifts?

    OR

Will I gain more strength/muscle mass on the 3x5 SS plan?

    OR

The full body workout in the stickies?

My stats are: 5ft10 140lbs 18 years old male
Like I said above I am skinny fat ectomorh (14% BF estimate)

You have a lot of spare time? Excellent! Because there's a lot of information covered in Starting Strength.

I have spare time because I had allot of college work to do in the past, the first half of the year has finished, workload has gone down so I have about 5 days a week including the weekend which I could be training on in the morning.
So you think I should do the starting strength over the rest of the programs?

You keep asking this over and over again. You are either retarded, a troll, or you're too pussy to actually do SS and you're waiting for someone to give you a different answer.

Stop asking, read the book, do the program.

FYI, the chin-ups are officially part of the program, you should be doing them for 3 sets after Power Cleans on B days.

I ask so much because some idiot in the past told me to do a 1200 cal diet to loose weight and I was stupid enough to only listen to him and not ask again...now your saying only ask one person and if he says do it I do it??!?!?!?!?
Dont want to end up with a major injury that is why I ask.

Also everyone says read the book but does the book not just tell you the same stuff that is on the internet? just alternate over the 2 workouts and keep adding weight?

The book is 347 pages long. The squat chapter alone is 64 pages long. Do you think the couple of pages outlining the program on the internet has equivalent information?

And if you don't want to end up with a major injury from weight training, reading Starting Strength is about the best thing you could do, whether you end up doing the program or not.

Is the wikia 347 pages long? Does it go into intricate detail in how to correctly perform the lifts, and how to correct mistakes? I could go on.

    GTFO.

I've done SS successfully from just reading the wikia. It's detailed enough to tell you how to peform each lift properly. And there's the forum to check as well.

You don't need the book to do the program, but the book is a great resource and really should be required reading for anyone who is going to start the compound lifts and stop wasting their time in the gym.

But to the OP, SS was essentially created specifically for guys just like you. In my experience people got much more out of SS than SL 5 X 5.

Whatever you end up doing, be consistent with it for gods sake. And don't forget about the importance of diet and sleep.

I just got SS 3rd edition and I am not even doing SS.

Get the book and read it, it has valuable information and it is 30 bucks.

The squat chapter has diagrams and photos etc..

It wont be a waste of money unless you dont read it.
This forum is great! Wish I found it years ago.....
