I haven't seen anything that has been that scary or disturbing.
The Ring wasn't scary. Neither was The Exorcist. Or any of those lame horror series. Watched Paranormal Activity and almost fell asleep.
Watched Insidious last night (which people RAVED about being "scariest movie I've ever seen") and it was full of cheap shocks and cliche themes. The cloven-hoofed-darth-maul-looking-demon was dumb as rocks toward the end of the movie. I was severely disappointed. The ending was even worse than I had hoped.
So that being said, has anyone seen any legitimately GOOD thrillers/horror films?

Please watch a little known Japanese movie called "Noroi: The Curse". It's a found footage/faux-documentary style horror movie done in 2005. It's not a movie filled with "BOO!" type scares but a slow and gradual disturbing horror. You're gonna have to torrent it but trust me, it's well worth it. You have my word. I've seen em all (Martyrs, Inside, A Serbian Film, etc) and it's the only movie to genuinely fill me me with fear in a long long time. If you watch it and not like it, neg me for life.
Watch alone, in the dark, loud, etc. all those horror movie watching condition prerequisites.

Looks intredasting.
Lol it was probably the most overrated film I had seen in a long time.
Never heard of Korean versions. Will give them a look.
Haven't seen. Might download. Thanks brah.
I watch most horror films alone.
Serious? I thought it was cliche and stupid. I literally laughed so many times that it just didn't seem like a horror movie.^_^

The guy who recommended The Fourth Kind. It was pretty good.
Also, have you seen Pandorum? More of a mind**** than a scary movie but it has its points.
The Descent was siiiiick the first time I watched it (DO NOT GET YUCKY WITH THE BOYS, FUARK)
Another one I liked a lot was 1408, much better if you have a beastmode sound system.
If none of those float your boat you could always try the first Saw movie, and/or Legion was one that was weird/creepy.

I don't like horror that relies on cheap shocks. If something jumps out at you unexpectedly you're going to jump slightly, but it's not "scary" and doesn't leave any lingering senses of fear, like a horror movie is supposed to.
I will remember your name, and if it fails to excite me I will neg you. But for now you get reps for the recommendation.
I always watch horror movies in the dark, on a widescreen, loud, usually alone unless my sister wants to watch too.
So sweet.
Didn't get around to seeing The Descent 1, but watched The Descent 2 and it was dumb as sh*t. I heard the first one was better but I'm skeptical.
Will look up the others.^_^

Can't believe the exorcist didn't scare you?? Although the movie does rely more on psychological fear than the primal ones you see now. Scariest theme about it was demonic possession was random and could hit anyone even during modern times.
What fears do you have that you haven't seem to never gotten rid off up until adulthood? Usually movies under this sort of lasting fear you have will scare you enough.
edit: try angelheart , mickey rourke n robert de niro or jacob's ladderLast edited by ironmouth; 09-30-2011 at 06:43 AM.
