Everyone is well aware of your hardon for high squats, no need to beat a dead horse. And he most likely could have gotten that overturned if he had tried (maybe he did try). Head judge made a mistake and the lifter got punished for it. And that absolutely sucks but I'd be willing to bet it was just an honest mistake and not someone just blatantly overlooking the rules.

A lifter shouldn't be punished for a judges mistake, honest or otherwise. But you're implying that since this was in the IPF, it HAD to be an honest mistake.
I'm not a fan of high squats, I'm a fan of powerlifting. I don't like when bad lifts are handed to people (regardless of what your perception is) but I like it even less when lifters are robbed. And a hand coming down is burned into your brain as a down command. If the head judge is stricken dumb and can't speak, but his hand comes down, will we deny the lift because he didn't give a verbal command?I'm not DrewDarden

Excuse me? Where the hell are you pulling this from? The lifter lowered the bar before the judges hand went down because the judge balked on his down command. The judge messed up regardless of what fed he is judging for. And I agree, the lifter should not be punished. But based on your posting history you are comparing a mistake (even a stupid one that shouldn't punish the lifter) to people purposely looking the other way and handing out gifts to lifters. I don't agree with either but they are not the same thing.

Wow, you couldn't be more wrong. So I'm going to stop right here. This thread is about someone getting robbed of a big PR lift. It's not even about a squat, so I don't know why you're getting all horny about it.
To set the record straight: I don't like the IPF/USAPL and I won't lift there. They have too many rules and are overly strict in enforcing them, often to the point of robbing lifters (as witnessed here).
I don't like the SPF either and I won't lift there. They have a reputation for ignoring the rules on big lifts and that makes legit lifts suspicious. (See Wilkerson's squat, which was a good squat but nobody can see that because of where it was done.)
I lift where the judging is fair and consistent. If that changes, I will move on. At the meet I was at last weekend there were a lot of lifts turned down for depth, a lot that were given 2 whites. Nobody gets screwed and nobody gets a gift. I don't think squatting high is ok, but I do think it is a lifer's job to convince the judges he has completed a good lift. If he can do that and still be an inch high, good for him.I'm not DrewDarden

looks like he didnt fully lock it out. looks to me like the lifter "stutter stepped" the lockout. He leaned back into a lockout position but then u see it popped right back out then he tried to hold it there. Looks to me like he faked the ref out
IMo, if you take your hand and cover the ref and just watch the lifter, he didnt lock it out. The announcer called it right "he lost it at the lockout"
I dont have a dog in the fight btw."Humility comes before honor"

This is extremely poor judging. From when he locked out to when he started lowering again is so short it's hard to tell if he made the lift or lost it at lock-out. My gut feeling is he would have got the lift if it wasn't for the confusion with the judge.
Only a ******* novice teen lifter like you that's never competed wouldn't care.
