This is the first time in my life that I have decided to workout without stopping and without alcohol. Every single time I began routines in my past all the way back to my early 20's alcohol has stopped me dead in my tracks. The longest routine before alcohol stopped me was 6 months.
I'm 38 and have lifted now for the longest stretch in my life for almost a year. I won't let it happen again.

Has alcohol ever sabotaged your workout routine?

Alcohol never took control of me but i love to drink now and again. Just yesterday i went to a party, drank, got hungry and ate lots of pizza, cake and other shetty stuff, definitely set my cut back a few more days. Alcohol can wreck a diet instantly for me for sure!

Alchohol is part of my training plan.

I can say from my angle. Virtually always after work out 1. I drink protein shake that broth with me 2. go to bar and drink 4-6 beers. This happen past night too. This is my evening fun routine. Below DWI this method work in a perfect harmony.
Only I'm highly suspicious that "beer belly" legend is true because I didn't have any belly till I start drink beer in 2004.

When I grew up I put away childish things.
I never keep alcoholic beverages around the house and only drink one or two drinks on very special occasions. So far this year I have had a grand total of 3 alcoholic drinks.

I never drank at all in my early building daze - from 16-24. Had some significant gains, focus, and strength (including competition) during this period. I "learned to drink like a gentleman" (ironic quoting from Faulkner, here) during my 3 years in the navy. While I competed in BB at the latter part of this period - thanks to restricted drinking (i.e. late night clubbing) a super fast metabolism, killer workouts, running, and general sparkling health - drinking (mostly beer) did most definitely derail my comeback training attempts at every turn from '98-2010, until I hit rock bottom and just pulled myself out by main force as it were. I now drink very little; I have found that it's no effort to lay off the beer once I decided to get going with real bodybuilding in all its facets as I once had, so I have decided the 'dependence' was hugely psychological.

I've been working out most of my adult life (except a 7 years hiatus) and I've also been a beer drinker most of my adult life.
Never really had any issues.
In fact, last Thursday was an absolutely gorgeous night, so I had some beers on the patio before dinner, and I got a new deadlift PR the next morning.
To each his own. OP; if alcohol ruins your training, don't drink it then. Simple enough.Insta: flexjs
